I learned during this last year how important student engagement is for each student's success. When the student has their phone put away, they are more likely to complete their work and stay on task. Learning about ways to encourage students to put their cell phones away during class was a great inquiry this year.
My area of strength is the use of technology offering 1:1 device access. The students have multiple screens to see assignments, and I can show different options separately on each screen. I strive to differentiate all assignments allowing my students to work on the option of their choice. My classroom has an "open door" policy, and my students are always welcome.
I want to continue to create content that offers rigor and differentiation. Building on my current curriculum, I want to keep pushing my students to be the best version of themselves. I want to keep up to date with the latest trends using technology and best practices to help each one of my students succeed.
I am most proud of how my students are succeeding in ways outside of the classroom. Working with the students out in the field, the students are earning their Food Handler's Card, ID cards, DOR (Department of Rehabilitation) registration and being paid for working at their various jobs. Seeing the students grow and build confidence in their abilities is amazing.
