After over three decades experience in rotating machinery maintenance in various industries, I am convinced that Precision Shaft Alignment is a major aspect of industrial rotating machinery maintenance. This subject, however, is not taught in schools. Therefore it is extremely necessary to put this critical subject in a step by step training program for the benefit of the industry.

Richtech Industrial Services, based in San Fernando, Trinidad, West Indies, was established to carry out industrial services with rotating machinery alignment as its core activity. However, Richtech Industrial Services recommends a Holistic Maintenance (H.M.) approach using the D.A.C. method to industrial machinery maintenance, i.e. the implementation of the Detection, Analysis, Correction "(D.A.C. Method)". The detection and analysis components of the "D.A.C. Method" are usually done by taking into account the vibration emanating from the machinery to determine the root cause/s of problems. The Correction Component of the D.A.C. method includes bearing installation / maintenance, and rotor balancing, which are common problems, and reverse alignment as its core corrective action because misalignment has proven to be the root cause of most rotating machinery problems. The D.A.C. method is extremely necessary to ensure that all machinery are closely monitored so that problems can be spotted in their early stages in order to implement timely remedial action to prevent costly breakdowns.

Never in the annals of human history was there so much destruction to our planet earth, that our very existence is threatened by it. Oil and gas industries are considered the major contributors to carbon emissions causing major environmental damage. Sudden breakdowns of plant and machinery cause large volumes of toxic waste to enter the environment accelerating this catastrophe engulfing our planet.
