2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
2.1 Information Collected Automatically
a) App Instance Identifier (Device ID)
We generate a random, unique UUID (Universally Unique Identifier) when you first install the App. This ID:
- Is randomly generated and is NOT your hardware ANDROID_ID or any persistent hardware identifier.
- Is stored only on your device in private app storage.
- Is sent to our server to identify your device session for app configuration and ad analytics.
- Is reset if you uninstall and reinstall the App.
b) App Version and Country
We automatically collect:
- Your app version (e.g., 1.0.0) — sent with every API request.
- Your device country/region — used to customize content and ad delivery.
c) Reading Activity (Stored Locally Only)
The following reading data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to any server:
- Last read page number
- Current reading streak (consecutive reading days)
- Daily reading pace (pages per day average)
- Total reading days
- Bookmarks you create
- Books you import from your device (file path and metadata)
- Dark mode and reading display preferences
d) Network State
We check your internet connection status to appropriately manage content loading and ad requests. We do not log your IP address or network location.
2.2 Information You Provide
a) Imported PDF Files
If you use the Import Book feature, you can select PDF files from your device storage. We access only the files you explicitly select. No file content is uploaded to any external server.
b) Notification Permission
We request permission to send you push notifications. You can decline this permission at any time. Granting permission allows us to send you updates about new content and features.
3. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
We integrate several third-party SDKs. Each has their own privacy policy which governs their data practices.
3.1 Google AdMob (Advertising)
Purpose: Display advertisements (Interstitial, App Open ads) within the App.
Data Collected by Google: Advertising ID, device information, interaction data.

Note: Users who have purchased a premium subscription will NOT see any advertisements.

Data Collected by Firebase: App usage events, session duration, device model, OS version.

3.3 Google Firebase Crashlytics
Purpose: Automatically detect and report app crashes so we can identify and fix bugs quickly.
Data Collected: Crash logs, stack traces, device state at the time of crash (device model, OS version, app version). No personal identifiers are collected.

3.4 OneSignal (Push Notifications)
Purpose: Deliver push notifications about new books, features, or app updates.
Data Collected by OneSignal: Device token, notification interaction data, device OS and model.

3.5 Our Own Backend API
We communicate with our own backend server for:
- Fetching the book catalog (titles, authors, categories, cover images)
- Fetching app configuration (ad settings, premium status)
- Logging anonymous ad events (ad type, event type, ad unit ID) for revenue tracking
Data sent to our server:
Header: x-device-id | Value: Random UUID | Purpose: Session identification
Header: x-app-version | Value: App version string | Purpose: Version-specific config
Header: x-device-country | Value: Country code | Purpose: Content localization
We do NOT collect your name, email address, phone number, or any personally identifiable information on our backend.
4. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

- Track app crashes — using Crashlytics crash logs — Legal Basis: Legitimate interest
- Analyze app usage — using Firebase Analytics events — Legal Basis: Legitimate interest

5. DATA STORAGE AND RETENTION
On-Device Storage
The following data is stored only on your device and is under your full control:
- Reading progress, bookmarks, streaks, and preferences
- Imported PDF book files and metadata
- App instance UUID (stored in private SharedPreferences)
This data is automatically deleted when you uninstall the App.
Server-Side Storage
We do not store personal data server-side beyond what is required for:
- Anonymous ad event logs (stored for analytics and billing purposes)
- App configuration delivery
6. PERMISSIONS USED
INTERNET — Load books, fetch app config, show ads
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — Check connectivity before making network requests
READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 12 and below) — Allow importing PDF books from your device
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 12 and below) — Save imported books locally
POST_NOTIFICATIONS — Send reading reminders and content updates via OneSignal
Note: Storage permissions are only used on Android 12 and below. On Android 13 and above, the Document Picker API is used which does not require storage permissions.
7. DATA SHARING
We do NOT sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party.
We may share anonymized, aggregated data (not linked to any individual) with:
- Our advertising partner (Google AdMob) for ad delivery optimization
- Analytics providers (Firebase) for improving app quality
8. PREMIUM USERS
If you are a premium subscriber, the App sets your account to premium status. This means:
- No advertisements are shown to you (no AdMob, no App Open, no Interstitial ads).
- Your premium status is persisted locally on-device and verified against our server on each app launch.
9. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it immediately.
10. DATA SECURITY
We implement the following security measures:
- All API communication is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.
- Our backend API endpoint is protected using encoding techniques to prevent casual extraction from the APK.
- No sensitive personal data (name, email, phone) is collected or transmitted.
- Local data is stored in Android's private SharedPreferences and Room Database, accessible only to this app.
- The app does NOT use hardware-bound device identifiers (ANDROID_ID), using a privacy-compliant random UUID instead.
11. YOUR RIGHTS (GDPR / CCPA)
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

Since most data in this App is stored locally on your device, you can exercise most of these rights by:
1. Clearing app data: Settings > Apps > Rich Dad Poor Dad > Clear Data
2. Uninstalling the App: Removes all locally stored data permanently.
3. Disabling notifications: Via your device notification settings.
4. Opting out of ads: Settings > Google > Ads > Delete Advertising ID
