Econ 100A: Microeconomics

Description: This course introduces students to the main tools and concepts of microeconomics. These tools and concepts will serve as a foundation for many upper level economics courses. Topics covered include consumer theory, producer theory, equilibrium in a competitive market, monopoly, general equilibrium, and asymmetric information. This course makes use of calculus.
Econ 140: Econometrics

Description: This course provides an introduction to statistical and estimation analysis of economic data. It covers topics such as the linear regression model and its estimator, Ordinary Least Squares, as well as extensions such as Instrumental Variables models, panel data models, and time series models.
Econ 504: Public Economics in Developing Countries
Role: TA (1 semester)
Description: This class is about microeconomic and empirical analysis of government expenditure programs in developing and transitional countries. It provides tools for understanding the effects of government policies, as well as a useful conceptual framework for analyzing normative questions such as “what role should government play in the economy” and “what is a good policy?”
Stat 201: Statistics and Data Analysis
Role: TA (1 semester)
Description: In this course, we will study the basic methods by which statisticians attempt to extract information from data. These will include many of the standard tools of statistical inference such as hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, and linear regression as well as exploratory and graphical data analysis techniques. This is an accelerated introductory statistics course that involves computational programming and incorporates modern statistical techniques.
