I am a licensed instrumental music teacher, teaching at Schmitt Music and privately for 30 years.

I know you might be thinking, 'how can this guy teach so many different instruments'? Well, the short answer is I love learning and playing different instruments!

I also enjoy teaching music that students want to learn, along with many of my own favorites, which often become student favorites. It's a joy to introduce younger generations to the vast and rich trove of wonderful music of previous eras, continuing right up to the present, in turn also learning and teaching music that students enjoy in the now.

I perform professionally in many different styles. Groups: Lamont Cranston, Jumbo Ya Ya, Rocking Pinecones & DD & Company. Instruments: sax, piano, accordion and clarinet.

Piano: Beginning-Advanced. I use the Faber & Faber method and supplement with popular songs, jazz and Latin music.

Saxophone, Flute and Clarinet: Beginning-Advanced. I have taught many students both privately and in small groups. I also have a community marching band that marches in the May Day Parade and the State Fair. In the past I have formed jazz combos that learn to play many different styles of music and learn how to improvise. Within these groups I have helped about 20 students make it into the Minnesota All State Jazz Band. I also teach at Schmitt Music - Southdale on woodwinds and brass.

Ukulele: One of the more popular instruments these days. Great for 1st grade on up. This is really fun in small groups and I have had students take lessons with their friends or parents. Also it is a great introduction instrument to guitar or bass. Five years of teaching experience in this realm.

Guitar: 15 years of teaching this incredible instrument. Basic chord instruction, note reading, strum patterns and finger picking. Classical is great if you want to play beautiful music and learn how to read notes. If you have a rock & roller, power chords and fun rock tunes are in order. I have put together about 12 different rock bands in the past.
