Richard Batt is a creative storyteller, teacher, and director working across theatre, film, and media. Based in Dorset, he balances his role as a full-time Performing Arts and Media lecturer with his work as Artistic Director of Revive Theatre, where he has directed and produced productions, including most recently One Man, Two Guvnors and The 39 Steps.
Alongside theatre, Richard has recently completed his MA (Dist) in Film Practice at Arts University Bournemouth. His film work spans documentary, experimental shorts, and adaptations, with projects such as Peace, Love, and Jelly Babies, Charlie: Portrait of a Dancer, and Gulliver’s Travels: Chapter 40. In these films, he has worked as writer, director, producer, editor, and sound designer, developing a broad practical skill set alongside his creative vision.
Richard also holds an FdA in Contemporary Theatre, DTLLS, and a BA (Hons) First Class in Post-Compulsory Education. His practice brings together education, stage, and screen, with a focus on layered characters, emotionally resonant storytelling, and finding fresh ways to connect with audiences.
