Funded by Fulbright, I conducted professional development activities for secondary teachers in rural areas of the Caribbean coast of Colombia. In these activities, teachers used ideas based on funds of knowledge and ethnomathematics to walk around their communities and visit students’ households to develop a better understanding of their students’ experiences. In this research project, I am analyzing how teachers integrate their students’ knowledge into their mathematics teaching using the CRCD Mathematics Task Rubric (Matthew, Jones, & Parker, 2013).
