Ricardo Lagos is Professor of Economics at New York University, a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research, and a Fellow of the Econometric Society. His research has contributed to the understanding of the role of money in modern economies, liquidity in over-the-counter markets, the microstructure of money markets, and monetary policy transmission mechanisms. His work has been published in leading academic journals, including Econometrica, American Economic Review, Journal of Political Economy, Review of Economic Studies, Journal of Economic Theory, Journal of Monetary Economics, Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, Review of Economic Dynamics, and International Economic Review.
He received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania, has held academic and research positions at the London School of Economics (Lecturer) and the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis (Senior Economist), and has taught graduate courses in monetary and financial economics at NYU, Princeton, Yale, the University of Minnesota, Indiana University, the University of Tokyo, the Study Center Gerzensee (Switzerland), Universidad de Los Andes (Colombia), and Universidad Torcuato Di Tella (Argentina). He has served as Editor of the Journal of Economic Theory, Associate Editor of Economica, Journal of Monetary Economics, and Review of Economic Dynamics, and Visiting Scholar at the Bank of Canada and several Federal Reserve Banks, including Cleveland, Minneapolis, New York, Philadelphia, and St. Louis.
