Professor, Group Leader
BSc, St. Xavier's College; MA, Cornell; PhD, Duke.
I held postdoctoral positions at Harvard and at Microsoft Station Q (UCSB) and spent 12 years on the faculty at the University of Kentucky before joining Penn State.
Prospective graduate students: Penn State has a top ranked physics PhD program and is among the leading departments in the US for condensed matter physics with over 20 faculty in the Physics department and many more across campus carrying our related research as possible doctoral mentors! I strongly encourage you to apply to our PhD program if you are interested in theoretical physics, condensed matter or working with me. After you have obtained admission to our program, please feel free to contact me to discuss research opportunities in my group. Contacting me before you have obtained admission does not help — there is not much I am able to do to influence the admission committee’s deliberations.
