About Me

Dr. Riazul Arefin

I am a module engineer at Intel Corporation, currently based in Hillsboro, Oregon, collaborating within the Logic Technology Development (LTD) group. In my academic path, I earned a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from The Ohio State University under Prof. Shamsul Arafin's guidance. During my doctoral studies, I served as a graduate research assistant at the Optics and Photonics Research Lab (OPREL), focusing primarily on Semiconductor Quantum Dot lasers, Silicon Photonics, and LiDAR technology.

Prior to my Ph.D., I pursued a master's degree in applied physics through the Erasmus Mundus scholarship in Molecular nano and bio-photonics (MONABIPHOT) program, studying at École Normale Supérieure Paris-Saclay and Complutense University of Madrid. I gained research experience as a summer intern at the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL) in Braga, Portugal, working with Dr. Jana Nieder in the Ultrafast Bio and Nanophotonics group. My master's thesis was completed at the Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (C2N, previously IEF) in Palaiseasu, France, under the guidance of Dr. Moustafa El Kurdi.

My academic journey began with a B.Sc. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Islamic University of Technology in Gazipur, Bangladesh. Following graduation, I worked as a lecturer at Prime University in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Notably, I participated with some undergraduate friends in the IEEE Signal Processing cup 2016, achieving the 11th position globally and receiving an honorable mention.

Beyond academics and work, I have a passion for traveling, reading novels, and watching football and cricket. Having lived in five different countries, I am fluent in Bangla, English, French, Spanish, and Arabic.
