If you want a dedicated swimming machine with rapid file transfers and zero-latency connectivity for your pool sessions, choose Rhyfell Bone Conduction Swimming; if you need a versatile open-ear headset that balances underwater MP3 playback with a secure, adjustable fit for diverse sports and video calls, choose Monster Open Ear BC300.
Both devices tackle the niche of bone conduction audio, but they approach the problem from slightly different angles regarding durability and user flexibility. The Rhyfell leans heavily into the specific needs of competitive swimmers and triathletes who demand high-speed data syncing and robust waterproofing for deep submersion. In contrast, the Monster BC300 offers a broader appeal for active individuals who might swim but also cycle or run, prioritizing an adjustable frame and magnetic charging convenience.
• Rhyfell Bone Conduction Swimming: Its biggest strength is the ultra-fast 18MB/s transfer speed for its 32GB storage and IP68 rating allowing submersion up to 5 meters, making it ideal for serious lap swimmers. Its trade-off is a fixed ergonomic design that may not suit every head shape as easily as adjustable alternatives.
• Monster Open Ear BC300: It excels with its flexible memory frame that adapts to different head sizes and includes corrosion-resistant magnetic charging contacts for longevity. Its trade-off is a slightly lower submersion depth limit (2 meters) compared to the Rhyfell's deeper water capability.
• Who each pick is for: The Rhyfell is best for athletes focused on speed and deep-water immersion, while the Monster fits users seeking all-day comfort and adaptability across multiple sports.
The Rhyfell Fit 5 is engineered specifically for those who treat swimming as a primary training modality rather than a casual dip. If you are looking for best in ear headphones for video calls while maintaining situational awareness during outdoor runs, this device stands out due to its advanced Bluetooth 6.0 implementation. The connection stability is critical here; the zero-delay pairing ensures that whether you are streaming audio or using the device for communication, there is no lag between your voice and the sound reaching the listener. This makes it a compelling option for remote workers who exercise outdoors but still need reliable audio performance.

What truly sets this model apart is the massive 32GB internal storage coupled with a transmission speed that is 18 times faster than previous generations. For anyone tired of waiting minutes to sync their workout playlists, this 18MB/s speed means you can load over 8,000 songs in mere minutes. The device operates independently of your phone once loaded, which is essential when you are fully submerged. With an IP68 certification, it can withstand being underwater up to 5 meters, offering peace of mind that goes beyond standard pool safety. You do not have to worry about accidental drops or high-pressure water jets ruining the electronics.
However, this product is not for everyone. Its design focuses heavily on the "swimming population," utilizing liquid silicone and a lightweight 28g frame to ensure it stays put during flip turns. While this is perfect for high-intensity training, the fixed nature of the fit means it lacks the adjustable flexibility found in other models. If you have a very small or very large head, you might find the fit less customizable than you would prefer. Additionally, while it features bone conduction technology for open-ear awareness, it does not include active noise cancellation, relying instead on the physical openness to keep your ears clear of ambient sounds. If you are someone who needs total isolation, this is not the tool for you, but for those who need to hear their surroundings while listening to music, it is a top-tier choice.
The Monster Open Ear BC300 targets the versatile athlete who moves between environments. If you are searching for kids headphones for video calls that are durable yet comfortable for extended wear, this model offers a strong contender. The ergonomic design incorporates a flexible memory frame and soft silicone ear hooks, ensuring the device stays firmly in place even during vigorous activity. This adjustability allows it to integrate seamlessly with swim caps, goggles, and even bike helmets, making it a true multi-sport companion. The ability to reshape the frame gently means it accommodates various head sizes, addressing a common pain point where one-size-fits-all headphones simply do not work for smaller users.
Water resistance is another key pillar for this device, boasting an IPX8 rating that protects against sweat and submersion up to two meters for two hours. While the depth is slightly less than the Rhyfell, it is more than sufficient for standard pool laps and open-water swims. The inclusion of a magnetic charging cable is a significant practical feature; unlike standard ports that can corrode or collect debris after repeated exposure to saltwater or chlorine, the magnetic contacts are made from corrosion-resistant materials. This design choice speaks to long-term reliability, ensuring that your charging mechanism remains functional despite regular pool use. The battery life supports up to 10 hours of continuous playback, matching the endurance needed for long training days or full-day events.
For users concerned with audio organization, the Monster BC300 handles MP3 mode intelligently. You can sort your library into separate folders for music, audiobooks, or podcasts directly on the device, and the shuffle mode is optimized to prevent repetitive loops. The device remembers your last playback position, so you never lose your place when you pause or restart. While it shares the bone conduction driver type and open-ear philosophy with the Rhyfell, focusing on safety and awareness, the Monster leans into the user experience of convenience and adaptability. It is particularly well-suited for those who want a single device that handles everything from a morning jog to an afternoon swim without needing to switch gear.
• Best for deep-water submersion: Choose Rhyfell Bone Conduction Swimming, rated for depths up to 5 meters versus the Monster's 2 meters.
• Best for fast file transfers: Choose Rhyfell Bone Conduction Swimming, featuring 18MB/s speeds that slash sync time significantly.
• Best for adjustable fit: Choose Monster Open Ear BC300, thanks to its flexible memory frame that molds to different head sizes.
• Best for charging durability: Choose Monster Open Ear BC300, with corrosion-resistant magnetic contacts designed to withstand pool chemicals better than standard ports.
• Best for weight-conscious users: Choose Rhyfell Bone Conduction Swimming, weighing in at a featherlight 28 grams for minimal drag.
• Best for organized libraries: Both support folder sorting, but the Monster explicitly highlights its optimized shuffle mode and position memory in its documentation.
• Best for Bluetooth range: The Monster lists a range of 33 feet, while the Rhyfell specifies 10 meters (approx. 33 feet), making them functionally equivalent for close-proximity use.
• Best for video calls: Both offer stable Bluetooth 6.0 connections suitable for clear audio, but the Monster's adjustable fit often provides better microphone positioning for varied head shapes during calls.
After weighing the specifications and intended use cases, I recommend the Monster Open Ear BC300 for most buyers, especially if you prioritize versatility and comfort for daily activities like video calls. While the Rhyfell is undeniably a powerhouse for competitive swimmers needing deep submersion and rapid syncing, the Monster's adjustable memory frame and magnetic charging system make it more practical for the average user who swims occasionally but also cycles, runs, or works remotely. The ability to customize the fit ensures it stays secure for everyone, regardless of head size, and the corrosion-resistant charging port adds a layer of longevity that matters for any water sport enthusiast. In my opinion, the balance of features offered by the Monster makes it the smarter investment for a wide range of lifestyles.
Yes, both models feature Bluetooth 6.0 technology which provides stable, zero-delay connections suitable for clear audio during video calls. They are designed to transmit sound effectively while keeping your ears open to your environment.
Absolutely. Both devices come with 32GB of built-in storage that holds up to 8,000 songs. You can switch to MP3 mode to listen offline while submerged, as Bluetooth signals cannot travel through water.
The Monster Open Ear BC300 is likely the better choice because it features a flexible memory frame that can be gently reshaped to fit smaller head sizes securely, whereas the Rhyfell has a more fixed ergonomic design.
The Monster BC300 uses magnetic charging contacts made from corrosion-resistant materials specifically to prevent rusting from pool or saltwater use. The Rhyfell also features robust waterproofing, but the magnetic design on the Monster is highlighted for its durability against repeated plugging.
