What We Expect From a DECA Exec Board Member:
Support the program that supports the chapter by enrolling in one or more business or marketing courses in the upcoming school year (preferred but not required)
Be a great communicator
Set a good example for the general membership:
Academically- have and maintain a 2.8 or higher overall GPA
Socially- positively interact with peers inside and outside of DECA
Personally- make good choices for yourself
Professionally- participate in Area competition
Be present
Attend meetings at least 75% of the time (3 out of 4 meetings)
Average Time Commitment: 2-3 hours per week but can vary depending on the week. Max 5-6 hours.
Learn About Each Role & Meet This Year's Team
Create a thorough agenda for each meeting
Run each meeting with enthusiasm
Delegate work to the other exec board members
Oversee other officers and competition advisors to ensure work of the chapter is on track
Be a liason to ASR per their requirements, attending meetings on behalf of our chapter
Communicate with our Area and State President
Other duties as assigned
Manage and create posts for the RHS DECA instagram
Make advertising materials as needed
Create powerpoints related to Marketing
Update pinterest boards, facebook, and other social media platforms
Be a mentor for a group of students during the weeks coming up to competition and at competition
Other duties as assigned
Be the liaison between the DECA exec board and the DECA members (ex: send out messages and updates via groupme/RemindMe app)
Create powerpoints related to Leadership
Work with students to facilitate leadership skills and abilities.
Networking with business professionals (for guest speakers)
Be a mentor for a group of students during the weeks coming up to competition and at competition
Other duties as assigned
Plan monthly/bimonthly chapter bonding activities, promote inter-chapter connections.
Take on “ombudsperson” duties to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
Get chapter feedback on culture/climate, performance, etc. - Create a private way for people to report any violations of the DECA constitution
Monitor chapter and chapter members for ethical reasons
Become educated in DECA Constitution and process of reporting
Create PowerPoints related to Hospitality
Be a mentor for a group of students during the weeks coming up to competition and at competition
Other duties as assigned
Plan community service projects
Make sure students know about various volunteer opportunities, internships, jobs etc.
Help students learn and strengthen their job resources (ex: LinkedIn, resume, etc.)
Create PowerPoints related to Business Career Development
Be a mentor for a group of students during the weeks coming up to competition and at competition
Other duties as assigned
Manage money
Plan bi-monthly fundraising opportunities for our chapter
Track and deposit money
Report financial projections for fundraisers
Complete the DECA budget form
Assist in submitting reimbursements for chapter expenses
Report to the chapter on the finances of the club by obtaining financial records from the bookkeeper
Outreach to Golden Grads
Create PowerPoints related to Finance
Be a mentor for a group of students during the weeks coming up to competition and at competition
Other duties as assigned
Manage and update the RHS DECA website weekly
Take minutes at each meeting and submit to ASR
Manage intake of membership forms and enter membership data in excel and in DECA website
Manage intake of competition forms and enter competition info in excel and in DECA website
Manage info on members competing at Area, SCDC, and ICDC in excel and on DECA website
Lead Chapter Campaigns
Be a mentor for a group of students during the weeks coming up to competition and at competition
