Mame 0 153 Rom Set Neogeo

NEOGEOMVS was correct! I created a cfg file called neogeo.cfg and put it in the ctrlr folder in the MAME directory. I first went into MAME and loaded up any game and got my default config perfect. I then copied the entire contents into a copy of the xarcade.cfg not overwriting what was there. I cleaned up the xml and added my keycodes to the neogeo section of the file. I first tried just putting in only the keycodes that I wanted to change but it just didn't work. I had to put every default keycode and then every neogeo keycodes fot it work. When running a game from Rocketlauncher I edited the global settings for the MAME module and added "-ctrlr neogeo" to the "Parameters" section. This basically will tack on the extra command line parameters at runtime.

no that not a stupid question, managing roms/chds/samples and playlists for Mame in Retroarch isnt a easy thing. it will need a much research on things like rebuilding romsets/bios-files [if needed ] and creating Playlists. i recommend you make sure that your contents (romset, samples, thumbnails) match the version of the used mame-core first (cmp). than create a playlist with the AHK Playlist Buddy.

ps: Seems for me you are digging in right place but you need get only a little deeper further explanations in using of CMP can be a little tricky for me because my really bad english. To use a BIOS other than the default Europe MVS (Ver. 2) you can simple enable Read Configuration in the core settings and create a mame.ini in your /system /mame/ini/ folder with the following settings: (You can even create a game.ini as well for per-game settigs e.g. mslug.ini)

If you enter a different BIOS than the default (0) in the mame.ini,

it will create a 'gamename''biosnumber' folder in /saves/mame/nvram/.

The saveram in this folder will store all changes made in the BIOS as well.

So, I'm trying to get my tankstick set up with MAME so that NEO GEO games use a different config from other games. I see this is already built into the X-arcade.cfg file I put in the ctrlr directory a while ago, but I realize it is looking for a 'neogeo' system. Right now, I don't think this is set up, since it is currently not formatted according to what it says. Right now, it's using "Ctrl, Alt, Space, X", but I want to use "C, Shift, Z, X" as seen in the X-Arcade.cfg. How do I define what games are part of the 'neogeo' system in mame as displayed in X-Arcade.cfg?

I like the sound of this, but can't quite follow his procedure. Not sure what me means by "loading up any game and got my default config perfect." as well as the following sentence. Also confused on whether he just makes an empty file called 'neogeo.cfg' to begin with and how this exactly works.

Now any new NeoGeo games will have a cfg file created with the appropriate setup in the neogeo folder with no extra work on my end, I actually added about 30 new NeoGeo games just last night and they are all using the correct control scheme with no setup!

The reason NeoGeo gets no love is because people just use MAME. MAME handles a wide spectrum of consoles and arcade machines. And people tend to favour the original arcade ROMs that NeoGeo games are ports of. UpUbuntu.com has a fairly good tutorial on getting it all set up that I can't beat... But the basics revolve around the mame package.

My game select does not work either. I just use the mameWAH menu. For the credits I just use the original coin mech switch. I just open the door and flick the same switch that the quarters hit on. 1st or 2nd player. I will check into MicroXP. Thanks for the tip!

STEP 3:

dat files are used by clrmamepro to retrieve a subset of files from within your set. they contain various metadata, including precize file sizes, to do this. if you got the v0.2.97.30 dat file, and use that to rebuild your v0.2.97.30 romset, you should end up with the exact same set. However you can use refined dat files to get rid of all the clones:

(i also then had to manually delete some homebrew/prototypes from romlister, and also amend the .xml file to include the neogeo.zip bios file, as it seems to want to remove that, regardless of the search string)

I just installed batocera on a Shuttle Global - XS35GS V3.

Put soms roms from "FB Alpha v0.2.97.39" in the FBA folder and neogeo games in the neogeo folder (with bios in it). but nothing runs or runs for a couple of seconds and hangs.

You may have read or encountered the term Unibios. What is this thing and how is it related to Neo Geo? See, the Neo Geo needs a BIOS file called neogeo.zip to boot up and function. In that firmware file the MVS and AES system functionalities are stored. Then there is another third party developed BIOS, the Unibios. Not always included in the neogeo.zip file, but it is free and you can add it yourself if you want.

Running the correct system version is only half the story. The other part is about the games itself. As mentioned earlier, there are arcade machines utilizing the Neo Geo engine, without ever getting an official console release. Those titles would work in the Neo Geo systems folder as well, but if you are like me, then you can go one step further and pick up those console releases only. My goal is to have the MVS and AES versions split up into respectively FB Neo arcade (fba ROMs folder) and Neo Geo console (neogeo ROMs folder) systems.

Lemme say first that I've been d/ling roms and using emu's non-stop for the last 4 months or so, starting with snes, nes, gg, sms, gba, and roms for saturn, dreamcast and psx, and a bit of experience with mame. Set up all the emus, worked out all the glitches on my pc by myself, yada yada... However, when I got to Neo-geo and CPS1/2 roms.... well, things are a bit difficult to understand and after scouring the web and some chatrooms for answers and finding none...
