Welcome to ancient Greece! There are a lot of sights to see. It is a beautiful country with many artifacts, such as the Acropolis of Athens or Mount Lycabettus, and temples. But, beware! You cannot visit just one temple. There are many goddesses with jealousy issues. If you pray to one, you must pray to all. Otherwise you may find yourself in the middle of a cat fight. A very deadly cat fight between immortals. There are many goddesses here in ancient Greece! But here are the ones you MUST remember.
"Hi! I am Aphrodite. My favorite temple was the temple of Aphrodite in Sparta, because the prayers and sacrifices came from some good-lookin' men and women. I am the goddess of love and beauty. As Paris himself said, I am the most beautiful woman to exist, regardless of what my family will say, especially Athena and Hera. And believe me, they will say I am wrong. But a third-party outsider agreed with me. So, who is the real winner? Anyways, as I said, I am the goddess of love, but I have a tendency to create many sticky situations in the name of love."
"I am Hera. I am the Mother of the Gods. My favorite temple is the temple of Hera in Olympia, although it is very hard to choose because I am a very important goddess with many nice temples. I like this one because it was built for me and my husband to be worshipped together. As the Goddess of Marriage, I get to know everyone's marital problems. Some, such as Aphrodite, have problems more often than others. I am married to Zeus and there is nothing I wouldn't do for my husband. No woman I wouldn't smite in his name. He loves me. He just shows it differently than others."
"Hey! I am Persephone. You may know me because I have many followers. I was heavily worshipped during the Eleusinian Mysteries. This time brought me a large following in Greece and I am personally responsible for that because I am the goddess of spring and vegetation. I, also, am queen of the underworld. I love flowers and all things bright colors such as the sunrise over the mountains or sunset by the sea."
These are our goddesses. They help keep order and balance in the world. However, each struggles to find that in their own lives. Here are their stories!
