The dynamical systems research group came into existence in 1988 after the induction of Dr. K. Balachandran and Dr. E.K. Ramasami as faculty members in the Department of Mathematics, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. Currently the areas of specialization of the faculty members of the research group are Control Theory, Partial Differential Equations, Fractional Differential Equations, Abstract Differential Equations, Stochastic Differential Equations and Mathematical Biology.

During the last three decades, the group has achieved remarkable progress in research activity and published more than 500 research papers in international and national journals. Several of them are published in Science Citation Indexed Journals. Significantly all the full time Ph.D. Research Scholars have obtained Post Doctoral positions in foreign countries. The group has produced 50 Ph.Ds so far.
