About

Welcome to RMG

The RMG is an online study group affiliated to HRM class at Kyoto University. Other non-class members are also welcome.

Origin of RMG

One day I was reading the literature and attempted to start organizing research methodology when doing scholarly reading. I created a form on Google Drive, which was a very rough form of recording methods used, what it is, reference introducing the method, applicability to research type, and contributor name. The practice got me think: what about we co-work to build some research assets/toolkit that can be useful to all of us? I wrote to Prof. Tomoki Sekiguchi and am grateful to receive his support on this idea to run the group in the HRM class under his teaching.

RMG Now

RMG has grown to be a peer-support learning study group which asks its members to collaborate on building research asset such as the above-mentioned form as a tool or reference for research students/research staff. Meanwhile, we are to introduce one encountered research method in the format of presentation and discussion in the group on the weekly or biweekly basis. This way, every member can learn to teach, and teach to learn.

RGM's activities take place totally online so that we can archive our output mainly in digital format: tutorial videos, meeting recordings, handout materials, presentation slides, methodology database, etc.

RMG Bi-weekly Online Event

  1. Every two weeks, we have one member sharing his/her experience/knowledge on research methodology via Zoom.

  2. The presenter is responsible for assigning the next presenter, and onwards.

Open Access

Many resources generated from RMG is open access to the public. Only some have member access only.

Membership

It is completely free to join RMG. We welcome all researchers at Kyoto University to join and member applications from other universities will be considered case by case.

I hope RMG can be a team that creates transferrable skills and knowledge to Kyoto University community and even a larger audience in the near future.

You can write me freely to indicate your intention to join the group. Thank you for your attention.

Yours sincerely,

Dr. Jingjing Lin
