The Armor Rider is the inevitable next step of the Driver class, as your level increases, the type of MAU upgrades available also increases and so on.

With each tier they get more and more powerful, and more and more expensive (and better looking too!)

Although any character can choose the driver class, only Specialists who choose the armor rider class will receive the passive buffs when obtaining their second class promotion.
