I am an as Assistant Professor in Philosophy and the Center for Medieval Studies at the University of Toronto, St. George Campus, jointly appointed in the Graduate Department of Philosophy. For the 2026-27 academic year, I will also be the Elahé Omidyar Mir-Djalali Faculty Scholar. I am also a member of the Collaborative Specialization in Ancient and Medieval Philosophy (CSAMP). For the AY 2027-27, I am the Elahé Omidyar Mir-Djalali Faculty Scholar, awarded by the Elahé Omidyar Mir-Djalali Institute of Iranian Studies at the University of Toronto.
I work on questions in ethics, epistemology, imagination, and action theory through the lens of the history of philosophy. My primary interests lie in medieval Arabic and Persian philosophy, as well as in Kant. I have written extensively on Kant’s conception of epistemic norms and their relation to moral norms. My current project explores moral epistemology, imagination, and the value of friendship, drawing from the works of al-Ghazālī, Suhrawardī, and especially Naṣīr al-Dīn Tūsī.
Here, you can find information about a conference and two local workshops I co-organized in 2025.
My other name is "Mohammad Reza Karim Hadisi," under which I have presented papers.
