At a time where the world is in complete turmoil, some of the top handbag design brands are coming forward to make a difference. Countries are finding their healthcare systems taxed to the maximum with a high number of countries already. It's a worrying time for everyone, but what is inspiring is to see all the top designer fashion houses doing what they can to make a difference at this worrying time.
Chanel - Top fashion brand, Chanel, has already started with the production of face masks. With shortages of protective masks, the fashion house is working to produce a staggering forty million face masks each and every week. They are working with French authorities on prototype samples.
Gucci - Gucci has also offered to assist with the pandemic which has its grips on the world right now through two donations. The first was a one million Euro donation, which was paid to the Italian Civil Protection Department, which will pay towards ICU beds. The second donation, also one million Euro was paid to the UN COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, used by WHO (World Health Organization) for the collection of data and the supply of protective equipment to any health personnel.
LVMH - LVMH (Parent company for Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior and Givenchy) started producing hand sanitizers at French facilities on March 19th. They are making a gel that can be used effectively to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.
Prada - Prada has taken the time to produce a staggering one hundred and ten thousand face masks and more than eighty thousand medical overalls. These items are to be distributed in the healthcare industry with items being produced by the Prada factory in Montone. They are able to keep the factory open as these are emergency items that they are manufacturing to make a difference during the global pandemic.
Ralph Lauren - Ralph Lauren has already pledged to make two hundred and fifty thousand face masks and twenty five thousand isolation gowns, this is over and above the $10 million this fashion house has already committed to help with COVID-19 relief efforts. The money will be used as financial grants for any Ralph Lauren colleagues who are facing problems such as childcare, eldercare and medical care. In addition to this the grant will also contribute to the COVID 19 Solidarity Response Fund.
Dior - Dior is another of the fashion houses that are making a difference during the COVID-19 outbreak. They have dedicated their Saint Jean De Braye facility to producing hand sanitising gel, which will be delivered to health care authorities in France for distribution at hospitals throughout the area.
