Sean Addicott is a Sound Artist whose work explores ambient, drone, noise, and electro-acoustic music forms. Their work explores an overarching creative desire; to remove digital limitation from the practice of musicing, compositionally contradicting chaos and order, to return to the wild. They have performed across the UK, and released on UK Label Outsider Art.
Sean released ‘Tapesleep’, a chemically-corroded nod to the modern convention of a sleep tape. In 2022, ‘Destroyertones’ the sophomore studio album from Sean Addicott was released, featuring an exploration of ambient, post-rock, and noise. The album showcases Sean’s ability to balance lightness with crushing weight, growing from a semi-sinusoidal drone to a palisade of noise, harmony, and sub-bass. Conceptually, the album explores catharsis through ritual isolation, loneliness, and the importance of growth and change. Both of these works were exhibited at Centrespace, Bristol, the former with a bed being utilised as a means of interfacing with the album, the latter as an Audio/Visual reconstruction in collaboration with digital artist Rory Joseph, film-maker Cressida Williams, and photographer Claire Addicott.
‘Rewilding Machines’ is a composition, performance, and recording project that explores live improvisation and “machine rewilding” through unpredictable sound library recall and aleatoric digital signal processing. The inspiration came from the philosophies of Pete Michael Bauer, exploring embracing wildness and letting go of the domestication of the digital audio workstation, embracing the contradiction of chaos and order in composition. The project is the latest iteration of an overarching creative desire; to remove “digital limitation” with a view to “return to the wild”; to live outside of limitation of digital predictability, and return to the heart of the practice: emotion.

Cat’s Eyes in Absentia (12'36")
Context:
‘Cat’s Eyes in Absentia’ was recorded on the 16th of November 2023, the morning after the Israeli invasion of Al-Shifa hospital, and offers space for reflection; a pocket of time to be sat in, felt in. Although composed in 2022, as a wild, improvised, stumble-found space for difficult reflection, the meaning came not from the opaque messiness of inception, but from the context gathered through the process of the piece’s recording.
Proceeds going to Medical Aid Palestine.
