NOTA TÉCNICA: REGISTRO DE OCORRÊNCIA DE Langsdorffia hypogaea (BALANOPHORACEAE) NO MUNICÍPIO DE MONTE CARMELO, MINAS GERAIS.

RESUMO O objetivo dessa nota é de reportar uma nova ocorrência da Langsdorffia hypogaea Mart. na região do Triângulo Mineiro e pela primeira vez em Monte Carmelo, Minas Gerais, estendendo sua distribuição para esta porção oeste do estado e do país. A espécie apresentada é categorizada como rara e são escassos os estudos que caracteriza sua morfologia, sendo um dos motivos seu hábito haloparasita subterrâneo e a dificuldade de observação em campo. Os caracteres morfológicos/fenológicos da espécie são descritos resumidamente. A ampliação da área de amostragem e a continuidade das expedições de campo para registro e coleta são imprescindíveis para um real conhecimento da flora regional. Esse novo registro destaca a importância dos estudos em áreas subamostradas, sobretudo nesta região de Minas Gerais que apresenta ecossistemas naturais altamente antropizados e fragmentos.

ABSTRACT The aim of this note is to report a new occurrence of Langsdorffia hypogaea Mart. in the Triângulo Mineiro region and in Monte Carmelo, Minas Gerais, extending its distribution to this western portion of the state and the country. This species is categorized as rare and studies characterizing its morphology are scarce, one of the reasons being its haloparasite habit and the difficulty of observation in the field. The morphological/phenological characters of the species are briefly described. The expansion of the sampling area and the continuity of field expeditions for recording and collecting are essential for a true knowledge of the regional flora. This new record highlights the importance of studies in undersampled areas, especially in this region of Minas Gerais that presents highly anthropized natural ecosystems and fragments.
