Akena Godfrey is a Ugandan actor, visual artist, special effects artist, costume designer, and film producer. He is known for his authentic and versatile performances, particularly in the 2025 psychological thriller Reverie, in which he played the lead role, Charlie, bringing emotional depth and vulnerability to the character.
Reverie received international recognition and earned Akena Godfrey the Best Actor Award at the NUFA AWARDS 2026. The film was also officially selected for screening at the Juiced Film Festival in Kenya, the Ateker International Film Festival in Turkana, the Lagos Fringe Film Festival in Nigeria, and the Nyasa International Film Festival in malwai. In addition, Reverie featured in international showcases through the Lift-Off Global Network and was invited to the New York Tri-State International Film Festival among many other international and local festival.
Godfrey also produced the 2024 short film Hypochondriac, which was nominated at the Uganda Film Festival. In 2026, he stars in the short film Bond of Tera, produced by Phanuel ActM, written and directed by Emma Okello.
He is currently based in Kampala and remains active in film and television.
