Who is Akena Godfrey

Akena Godfrey is a Ugandan actor, visual artist, special effects artist, costume designer and film producer. He is known for his authentic and versatile performances in the 2025 psychological thriller Reverie, an award winning film for best director in Malawi, he played the lead role Charlie, bringing emotional depth and vulnerability to the character.

This same film was officially selected for  screening at the juiced film festival in Kenya, Ateker international Film Festival in Turkana, Lagos Fringe film Festival in Nigeria and Nyasa international film festival scoping a best director award for it. Reverie also featured in the international showcases, it featured at the Lift off Global Network and it was invited for the New York Tre-state international film festival.

Godfrey produced the 2024 short film Hypochondriac, which was also nominated at the Uganda Film Festival, and in 2026, Akena Godfrey stares in a short film Titled Bond Of Tera produced by Phanuel ActM written and directed by Emma Okello.

He is currently based in Kampala, Uganda, and is active in film, and television.
