Contents Page

The plan of these commentary notes is to begin with chapter 4, where visions in the Temple in Heaven begin. Then, when the end of the Book has been reached, the plan it to return to the first chapter, to the vision of the Mashiach himself and the vision of the seven gatherings of the people of Mashiach in the exile.

Prologue

1 The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants the things that must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, 2 who bore witness to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw. 3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.      Continue Reading

The Throne in Heaven

After this I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven! And the first voice, which I had heard speaking to me like a trumpet, said, "Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this."   Continue Reading

The revelation of Yehoshua HaMashiach , which will come and is come already in measure through the Holy Spirit and through the visions of this Book and in all the Scriptures, actually begins with the unsealing of the great scroll received by the Lamb, as recorded in chapter five.  Continue reading

"A scroll written on the inside and on the outside."

And I saw that in the right hand of the One sitting upon the throne there was a scroll. The scroll was sealed [at its top, at seven places] with seven seals [so that it could only be unscrolled from one place to the next, as the seals were broken.   Continue reading

Then I saw the Lamb open the first of the seven seals

All seven seals refer to authority being granted in the revelation. We will see that the first four seals refer to authority, first to govern all judgments concerning the end of history in the earth, second, we will see that these take place specifically in the areas of social relations, livelihood and of the cutting short of life   Continue reading

After this,  that is to say, after the first visions of the sixth seal more consequences of opening the sixth seal follow. The chapter has changed, but we are still being shown the nature of the authority that is given to the angels of judgment through the opening of the sixth seal. So far, we have seen that the authority under the sixth seal is to begin full scale judgment in the earth, which will bring about the end of natural history.  So now, "after this..." we see a vision of angels involved in the actual commencement of final judgment:   Continue reading

Research notes for Revelation chapter 7

Rashi:  Ho, Ho! - “Ho” is only an expression of proclamation and an announcement of assembly. And so did Jonathan render it: Announce to the scattered ones. אַכְלוּ means announce, as in (II Sam. 22: 14): “The Lord thundered from heaven,” which Jonathan renders: אַכְלוּ מִן שְׁמַיַּא

Abarbanel on Zech. 2:10 - A rough translation leaves open-ended edges for possibilities of thought that a smoother more reasonable and more correct translation closes off. Abarbanel talks about the Israelites from the ten tribes as being far to the north from Judah at the time that Zechariah the prophet was speaking to them.

When the Lamb opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.   Continue reading

The removal of the sixth seal has allowed all that was written on the front side of the scroll to be read.  But there was still another seal to be opened.  Continue reading

And the fifth angel blew his trumpet, and I saw a star fallen from heaven to earth, and he was given the key to the shaft of the bottomless pit.   Continue reading

This is the first time when it is made known that the letting loose of fallen angels upon the earth is an element of the final judgment upon the world.  Continue reading

He had a little scroll open in his hand  .... When he called out, the seven thunders sounded.   Continue reading

All Israel will yet come to the place of fully hearing the voice of Yehoshua's seven thunders.  Continue Reading

His message was the inner light of this revelation itself.   Continue Reading

I will grant authority to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days.  Continue reading

Yochanan ... is, therefore, able to count those who worship in the Temple, for he represents them in the vision of the Revelation; they are like him and he is able to recognize and count them.  Continue reading

On that day!  What day is this most wonder filled day?   Continue reading

And a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.  Continue reading

The woman is Israel, not Israel as humans see Israel, but rather, the woman is Israel as seen to appear spiritually as God sees her.  Continue reading

And I saw a beast rising out of the sea, with ten horns and seven heads, with ten diadems on its horns and blasphemous names on its heads.  Continue reading

The first beast...  A clone, as it were, of the dragon, with the addition of the names on its heads..  Continue reading

Then I looked, and behold, on Mount Zion stood the Lamb, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father's name written on their foreheads.   Continue reading

A vision of spiritual reality - where Mount Zion in heaven and earth are one…  Continue reading

God shows us this vision because what it represents, what it symbolizes, has already occurred and is established in heavenly places and rules also over the earth, but in a way that, apart from this revelation being made known to those to whom it is made known, is still concealed.   Continue reading

Then I saw another sign in heaven, great and amazing, seven angels with seven plagues, which are the last, for with them the wrath of God is finished.  Continue reading

Just as in Egypt the wrath of God was kindled when He heard the cries of His children the Israelites in the severity of bondage that was forced upon them, so here it is the suffering of the children of Israel that provokes the wrath of God.   Continue reading

I heard a loud voice from the temple telling the seven angels, "Go and pour out on the earth the seven bowls of the anger of God."   So the first angel went and poured out his bowl on the earth...  Continue reading

Jerusalem upon the earth, in the Land of Israel, has made herself ready. Witnesses are positioned at their posts unto the ends of the earth.   Continue reading

"Come, I will show you the judgment of the great prostitute who is seated on many waters..."  Continue reading

... the empire of Babylon and its direct offspring empires derive their power from the decree of G-d that they should be the place and power for the captivity and chastisement of Israel.   Continue reading

The Great Spiritual Prostitute has been able to ride on the back of the neck of the fourth empire, even from the time of the finished work of Mashiach, because of the concealment of the revelation of God's mystery.  Continue Reading

"Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great!  She has become a dwelling place for demons, a haunt for every unclean spirit, a haunt for every unclean bird, a haunt for every unclean and detestable beast.... "  Continue reading

the true nature of Mystery Babylon, the system of artificial Roman imperial rule over Israel for many long centuries.  Continue reading

It is time for Judah and Joseph to be immersed in the Jordan River and still cross over on dry ground.  Continue reading

because Babylon abuses the power given to it, judgment is come upon it.  And it is in this very judgment that the ultimate redemption of Israel in Jerusalem is brought about. For this is the final fulfillment of the words of Israel's redemption in Egypt: "Let my people go, that they may serve me!"  Continue reading

"Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God,  for his judgments are true and just; for he has judged the great prostitute who corrupted the earth...   Continue reading

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.    Continue reading

In the final two chapters of the Revelation of Yehoshua the Mashiach a vision of the beginning of Eternity is given.  Continue reading

Time and space no longer exist in the same way that they did, but still event and place exist, as space and time are now redeemed.  Continue reading

Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb  through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month.   Continue reading

We have learned that the throne is the eternal Messianic Throne. It is the throne of God and of the Lamb. It is at the centre of the Revelation.  Continue Reading

God’s sentence of death… was it due to legal judgment or was it not a sentence of a judge at all but just a warning of fact that the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil was a poison to Adam?  Continue reading
