Here is the Celebration of Her Life and Legacy!
Precious Moments in a Beautiful Celebration of Life
On Thursday, April 13th 1944, Reverend Jacquelyn Joseph Jackson and Joycelon (Joycelyn) Joseph (Formerly Wilson) were born in New Orleans, Louisiana to Henrietta Marsh Grosley and Anthony Joseph. The “Twin’s” early life was dedicated to the Church at Second Mount Olive. And the value of education was weaned together with spirituality. They attended Valena C. Jones Elementary and Joseph S. Clark Sr. Highschool. “Jackie,” as she was affectionately known to her family and friends, started out giving speeches to various organizations and churches throughout New Orleans East Parrish. Her most memorable rendition of James Weldon Johnson’s The Creation Story crafted her love for ministry and the power of words.

“To be Young, Gifted and Black,” as Nina Simone would say, is a struggle, especially with motherhood and a call to ministry in life, as Jackie continued to serve in various capacities of ministry for over 36 years until her passing. Her last appointment was at the Greater Bethany Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia. Prior to that she would attain multiple certifications and become ordained as a licensed minister from the Beulah Heights Bible College. Her impact on ministry, church and children (with Over 27 grand and great grandchildren) would live on into her seventies. Her most pressing gift as author and speaker would deliver messages, such as “7 Suitcases,” describing the trials, testimonies and triumphs of transition. Her legacy of love and laughter shined in moments of challenge and controversy. The Reverend Jacquelyn Joseph Jackson leaves behind standards of excellence yet to be achieved. The Bible declares in Ecclesiastes 3, that in life there is a season for everything. This season of her life planted and rooted seeds on great ground.
