For iPhone users seeking a retro phone headset for iphone, the SteelSeries Arctis Pro + stands out immediately as the top choice because its dedicated DAC transforms your device into a high-fidelity audio source. If you prefer a lightweight, folding option with a classic look that fits easily in a pocket, the JOMILIN A8 is the runner-up for its portability and simple wired connection.
• SteelSeries Arctis Pro + — best for audiophile-grade clarity and console/PC gaming; pick this if you need a dedicated DAC to bypass low-quality sound cards and want premium materials that feel built to last.
• JOMILIN A8 — best for budget-conscious commuters and casual listening; pick this if you value a no-nonsense, wired setup with soft ear cushions that won't break the bank.
• JBL Quantum 350 — best for wireless freedom during long gaming sessions; pick this if you need lossless 2.4GHz connectivity and a detachable boom mic for clear squad communication.
The SteelSeries Arctis Pro + GameDAC is not just a pair of headphones; it is a complete audio ecosystem designed to strip away the compromises found in standard consumer gear. What makes this unit stand out is the included GameDAC, a dedicated digital-to-analog converter and headphone amplifier that sits between your device and your ears. For an iPhone user who wants that "retro" feel of high-end, tangible equipment rather than cheap plastic dongles, this system bypasses the inferior sound chips typically found in controllers or basic adapters. It forces your audio to run at full resolution, ensuring you hear every detail from deep bass to crisp highs without any down-sampling or digital noise.
This headset is engineered for those who treat their audio experience as a serious hobby. The construction features polished steel and aluminum alloy, giving it a substantial, premium weight that feels durable and high-quality in hand. The memory foam ear cushions wrapped in AirWeave fabric are designed to keep your ears cool even during marathon listening sessions, while the elastic headband distributes pressure evenly so you forget you are wearing them. In daily use, this means you can enjoy music, podcasts, or games with a level of realism that standard wireless earbuds simply cannot match.
However, there is a significant trade-off to consider regarding convenience. Because this system relies on a wired connection through the GameDAC, it requires a physical link to your power source and your device. You will be tethered by cables, which eliminates the clutter-free movement of true wireless options. Furthermore, while it works beautifully with PS5, PS4, and PC, using it with an iPhone requires specific adapters and careful management of the physical interface. If you prioritize total mobility and the ability to toss your headset in a bag without worrying about tangled wires or external power bricks, this might feel like too much effort for everyday carry. Yet, for the purest possible sound quality available today, the trade-off is well worth it.

The JOMILIN A8 represents the quintessential wired over-ear headphone, offering a straightforward, no-frills approach to audio that appeals to those who value simplicity and style over complex tech. This model brings a classic aesthetic to the table, featuring a folding design that makes it incredibly easy to store in a backpack or coat pocket. The enclosure is made of durable polycarbonate, and the ear cups are lined with ultra-soft cushions that provide a comfortable seal for extended wear.
Who is this for? The inline microphone allows you to take calls or skip tracks directly from the cable, removing the need to fumble with your phone screen. The cord itself is non-tangle, a small but vital feature for anyone who has ever struggled to untie a knot before plugging in. In a real-world scenario, this means you can drop these into your bag, pull them out when you arrive at the office or gym, and start listening immediately. There is no pairing process, no battery to charge, and no firmware to update—it just works.
The main limitation here is the lack of active noise cancellation and wireless capability. While the ear cushions offer good passive isolation, they cannot actively silence the roar of a subway or the hum of an air conditioner like more expensive models do. Additionally, the frequency response is tailored for a balanced, enjoyable listen rather than the extreme dynamic range required for critical audio engineering. If you are looking for a tool to help you focus in a noisy environment or if you demand absolute silence, this might leave you wanting more. However, for general listening, music appreciation, and call clarity where reliability trumps advanced features, the JOMILIN A8 delivers exceptional value without the fuss.
The JBL Quantum 350 Wireless bridges the gap between the retro aesthetic of traditional headsets and the modern necessity of wireless freedom. This unit utilizes a lossless 2.4GHz wireless connection, which provides a stability and latency profile that rivals wired setups, making it ideal for competitive gaming or fast-paced action where timing is everything. The sound signature, known as JBL QuantumSOUND, is tuned to highlight cinematic details, allowing you to distinguish the quietest footsteps from the loudest explosions with striking clarity.
Comfort is a central pillar of this design, specifically for users who plan to wear the headset for hours at a time. The headband is lightweight, and the ear cushions feature PU-wrapped memory foam that molds to your ears, preventing the fatigue often associated with heavier, rigid gaming headsets. A standout feature is the detachable directional boom microphone, which offers superior voice focus so your teammates can hear you clearly even in chaotic game environments. You also get a generous 22-hour battery life, meaning you can play all day and night without reaching for a charger. If you need extra time, a quick five-minute charge grants you an hour of playback, a feature that eliminates the anxiety of a dying battery during a crucial match.
Despite its impressive feature set, the JBL Quantum 350 does have some constraints. The reliance on a proprietary 2.4GHz wireless adapter means you must carry the USB dongle with you to maintain that lossless connection; you cannot simply plug it into a generic Bluetooth receiver and expect the same performance. While it includes Bluetooth capabilities, the primary advantage lies in the dedicated wireless link. Furthermore, the design is heavily oriented toward gaming, so while it sounds great for media, it may lack the neutral tuning some audiophiles prefer for studio work. For the average iPhone user who wants a powerful, wireless headset that doesn't compromise on sound quality or comfort, this is a compelling option, provided you don't mind carrying the necessary adapter.
The second iteration of the JOMILIN A8, presented here in a sleek black finish, reinforces the brand's commitment to providing versatile, accessible audio gear. This version maintains the core strengths of the green model—lightweight construction, folding design, and a reliable 1.5-meter no-tangle cord—but adds a layer of durability with faux leather and memory foam ear pads. It is designed to be a universal companion, working flawlessly with smartphones, tablets, computers, and MP3 players, making it an excellent choice for anyone who switches between multiple devices throughout the day.
In practical terms, this headset shines in scenarios where you need something portable and tough. The folding mechanism allows it to collapse into a compact size, fitting easily into a side pocket or a small pouch. The inline controls let you manage volume and track skipping without touching your phone, which is particularly useful when you are driving or exercising. The build quality suggests it can withstand the rigors of daily travel, with a sturdy plastic shell that resists cracking under normal use. For the user who wants a "set it and forget it" solution, this model offers a satisfying balance of performance and simplicity. It delivers a rich, bass-forward sound that is engaging for pop, rock, and electronic music, providing a fun listening experience without requiring technical adjustments.
The trade-offs remain consistent with the first model: it is strictly wired and lacks active noise cancellation. You will rely solely on the physical seal of the ear cups to block out ambient noise, which can be less effective in very loud environments compared to active systems. There is also no battery to worry about, which is a pro for longevity but a con for wireless flexibility. If you find yourself constantly moving between rooms or locations where charging isn't guaranteed, the wired nature might feel restrictive. However, for those who prioritize cost-effectiveness, ease of use, and a classic form factor, the JOMILIN A8 in black remains a steadfast, reliable choice that gets the job done without unnecessary complications.
