About

Retrievercon is the annual anime convention of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), run by the UMBC Anime Society! UAS started Retrievercon in the Fall of 2013; this will be our tenth. This coming Retrievercon is on March 11th, 2023 from 10:30am to 8pm. Admission is free, and we welcome students and the general public to our convention. We will have anime showings, vendors, panels, a cosplay contest, and more!

We are open to any and all volunteers to help us run the event.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, you can email us at uasofficers [at] gmail [dot] com.

You can also find Retrievercon on Facebook and UAS on Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr

Online

Retrievercon this year will be a hybrid convention, with events both streamed online and happening in-person. We will be streaming panels on our Discord server, where we will also have anime viewings, miscellaneous events, and social interaction.

Where

Retrievercon is located in The Commons building at UMBC, 1000 Hilltop Circle, Baltimore, MD.

As parking is less restricted on the weekends, it shouldn't be too much trouble to find a space. We recommend the Commons Garage. Administration Drive Garage, Walker Avenue Garage, Lot 1, or Lot 8 are a few of the other options. You can find the official UMBC parking map here.

Venue Maps

Retrievercon will be located throughout the Commons building (Main Street, and the third floor, Lower Flat Tuesdays, Sports Zone) and in Lecture Hall 01 (aka LH01 Cinema).

About UAS

Established in 1994, the UMBC Anime Society was founded with the goal of "celebrating the art of Japanese Animation".  Twenty-five years later, we continue to celebrate anime with our Friday showings, our semesterly 24-hour Marathon, and more recently, Retrievercon. Our regular meetings are Friday evenings from 6 to 11 pm in Admin 101; they are, and always have been, "free and open to the public".
