Welcome to Olympiad Living! This is the first retirement home that houses many of the famous and popular Greek Gods and Goddesses. Our facility is the largest retirement home in the world! Due to the sheer size of our residents, we must modify every living space to provide the most comfort for our Gods and Goddesses. On a day to day basis, there is plenty of storytelling and drama that occurs within these four walls, but more on that later. First I’ll run through what a normal day is like here at the facility.
First, the residents start with breakfast and their daily exercise. From water aerobic classes to a power-walking track, we have it all! Next up is self-care. This is when the Gods can get haircuts or the Goddesses can get manicures. Soon after that is when lunch occurs. Nothing too special happens, that is until 3 o’clock rolls around.
When the clock strikes 3, there is a flood of residents that arrive at the game center. They all pack into the game room that houses a huge variety of games. The residents' absolute favorite game is Yahtzee. Competition is an important aspect of life for the Gods, so they all try their best to win. Even though Yahtzee is a game of mostly luck, they all take it very seriously. They have even kept track of who wins and loses for the past five years! While Yahtzee is a fun game to play, it can bring out some nasty discussions between the players. On a daily basis, game time is the loudest and wildest time of the day.
One of the craziest memories revolving around game time is when we had to ban Yahtzee for a week. As many know, in the game of Yahtzee there are five dice that must be rolled. The combination differs and is kept track of. Well about 5 years ago, Zelus, who is known for being competitive and causing rivalries, decided to cheat during Yahtzee. He was so competitive that he wanted to win no matter the cost. Unfortunately, when he was caught, there was a major uproar in the game center. Every God and Goddess present was enraged and began to pull Zelus from limb to limb for his faults. Due to the Zelus cheating and ferocity of the other residents, we were forced to ban Yahtzee for a week. When the week passed, the Gods outlawed Zelus from Yahtzee forever. Additionally, the Gods began to keep better track of each player's turn and they were more devoted to keeping a better winning and losing record. For the Gods, messing with Yahtzee is an abomination.
Anyway, after game time the residents eat dinner. It is usually awkwardly quiet during dinner due to the arguments and fights that ensue during game time. Shortly after dinner the residents return to their rooms to bathe and go to sleep.
As mentioned earlier, there is a ton of drama that occurs between the different residents here. At Olympiad Living, we house some of the most notorious and prominent gods. First would be Zeus. He is quite the powerhouse here. Zeus can be extremely boastful when it comes to telling his favorite stories. He loves to talk about the relationship with his brothers, Poseidon and Hades. Long ago the three brothers divided the world into different parts so that they could all be some sort of ruler. I’m sure that he would say that this is a butchered description. He will gladly share the story from his point of view.
Another interesting member of our community is Hera. She is the wife of Zeus. Hera is rather dangerous when it comes to interacting with others or remembering back on certain parts of her life. She gets bent out of shape especially when Aphrodite shares the story of how she was crowned the most beautiful goddess. Hera still seems to be butt-hurt about the story so she creates quite a ruckus at the facility. Knowing how much Aphrodite loves to tell this story, I’m sure a Hera outburst will come about in the next couple of days.
Finally, we have Artemis here at Olympiad Living. She is a little less known than the others, but this does not mean that she doesn’t have intriguing stories to tell. Artemis is the daughter of Zeus, but Hera is not her mother. There is bad blood within this group that’s for sure. Knowing that Hera hates Artemis’ birth story, Artemis takes great pleasure in telling the story in order to get under Hera’s skin. While it is slightly petty, Artemis is not malicious in any way. Overall, the residents eventually get along, but there are definitely some hard feelings that linger.
The residents here are very vocal and passionate about storytelling. This is something that we embrace and look forward to sharing with others! Here at Olympiad Living, we hope that you enjoy your time and have fun hearing the stories that the Gods and Goddesses will share!
Here is a statue of Zeus that he brought along to have in his room.
