Welcome!
In early childhood education, we often hear that you need to be “passionate” to do this job well. Being caring, patient, and committed is seen as part of being a “good educator.” But sometimes, this idea can also create pressure—like if we feel stressed or burned out, it means we are not passionate enough.
This module invites you to pause and rethink that idea. Is passion really something we need to maintain on our own? Or are there other factors—like workload, support, and the environment we work in—that affect how we feel and how we show up as educators?
Through this learning experience, you will explore how educator well-being and burnout are not just personal issues, but are also connected to the systems we work in. You will be encouraged to reflect on your own experiences, question some common assumptions, and think about what needs to change—not just individually, but at a broader level.
This matters because when educators are not supported, it affects not only their well-being but also the quality of care and relationships with children. Sustaining passion shouldn’t be something educators struggle with alone—it should be something supported by the environments and systems around us.
