ReSTORE stands for:
Refugee Support, Training, Orientation, Recruitment and Education.
Which means...
We support refugees who worked as nurses in their home countries to return to nursing careers in the UK.
In order for this to happen, the nurses will undertake training for an Occupational English Test (OET), a Computer Based Test (CBT) and Objective Structured Clinical Exam (OSCE).
A combination of these three elements, alongside working as healthcare support workers, pastoral support and mentorship, should prepare our nurses for nursing careers in the NHS.
The idea for ReSTORE came about for so many reasons, here are a few...
there is a shortage of nurses in the UK (about 50,000)
a migrant workforce should reduce health inequalities and facilitate integration
and counter the hostile rhetoric towards immigration
enable these nurses to return to a career they love
