Student Opportunities

The REST Lab is looking for curious, enthusiastic, and highly motivated students who are interested gaining research experience in the areas of romantic relationships and social stress.

Responsibilities may include any of the following:

Participation in regular lab meetings
Recruiting for studies
Assisting with survey design
Administering surveys
Conducting and/or transcribing interviews
Managing survey, interview, and/or observational data
Conducting literature reviews

Undergraduate Students

Students interested in earning research credit (HD 4994) should complete an application. A commitment of at least one academic year is preferred (e.g., Fall-Spring). Work in the lab ranges from 1-3 credits (1 credit hour = 3 hours of work per week). You are welcome to email an inquiry about available positions before submitting an application.

Application deadlines:

Fall Semesters: April 15th for early consideration, July 31st for late consideration

Spring Semesters: November 15th

As of Fall 2024, there are no current undergraduate research assistant openings in the REST Lab.

Prospective Graduate Students

Dr. Rice Wallace's research focuses on understanding how romantic relationships are shaped by social stressors. Her current work examines how racial discrimination shapes relational and personal wellbeing for Black Americans. Dr. Rice Wallace takes an interdisciplinary approach to studying close relationships and employs qualitative and quantitative research methods.
