RESTing while thinking and discussing about Computational Linguistics! Does that sound impossible? We strongly believe it is possible! We want to enjoy a 3 days break from the city and our office while still trying to advance in our research by means of fruitful discussion with fellow students on common topics and by being exposed to what other people are working on.

Our sponsor (COLT) will cover accommodation in the casa rural for three days from April 11th until April 14th. We are currently investigating and should cover meals. However, in case we will not be able to cover food expenses we are planning to buy everything at local supermarket and cook ourselves in order to keep costs down and to have even more chance to socialize and have fun! Have you ever heard of this?

Of course! As of now, the program is yet to be finalised so we are glad to consider you for a talk if you'd be happy to do so. We are also open to non-classic talks, do you wanna give a talk and then lead a brainstorming session on the topic? Sounds great! Do you want to prepare some open questions on a topic of your choice and then lead a discussion on possible answers? Great idea! Timing and talks format are open so be creative! Please note that you do not have to present results or any ongoing research to give a talk. Feel free to use the retreat for brainstorming only in case you have some half-baked ideas or you are about to start a new project.

Barcelona in April is a great place to be! Nice weather, great food and amazing beaches to explore! Moreover, a workshop will take place at Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona right before the retreat on Monday April 11th, along with Ionut's PhD defense! Do consider attending there's a great lineup of invited speakers and great exiting research will be presented!

If you are planning to stay after the retreat, be aware that it will be Semana Santa and there might be several things happening in the city. Feel free to contact us in case you have questions when planning your trip.

Unfortunately due to limited capacity of the venue the retreat is an invite-only event. However, there might be some free spots left, do get in touch with us if you want to invite someone else that would be a great fit for the retreat.
