Tuesday April 30th, 2024 (5:30pm-6:30pm ET): Bias, Accuracy, & Equity in Educational Assessments

Join the Responsible Technology Coalition (RTC) on April 30th from 5:30-6:30pm for the event "An Introduction to Educational Measurement and Psychometrics, and a Discussion into the Responsible Use of its Technology." We'll hear from Kevin O'Rourke, PhD candidate from the College of Education's Research, Educational Measurement, and Psychometrics (REMP) program, who will give a brief overview of Psychometrics and test theory/practices/etc, and will lead a discussion into some current practices involving the intersection of technology and educational measurement (including applications of AI). There will also be a discussion of some of his research and concerns surrounding adverse impact, bias, and unintended negative consequences of high-stakes testing, as well as the use & interpretation of results, and the role of policy.
