Why a Pigeon?
We chose a pigeon as our mascot because pigeons were extremely influential throughout history. When studying, we discovered that the Native Americans believed that pigeons were spirit animals, which meant that you could turn into a passenger pigeon when you died. They also believed that the migrating pigeons would carry away the souls of their deceased, so they placed the mounds on pigeon migration paths.
We also learned that pigeons were influential in the Roman and Byzantium empires and used widely for fertilizer. More recently pigeons have been used for messengers, racing pigeons and even as companion pets and in pop culture.
We named our pigeon Squab because a squab is a name for a young, unfledged pigeon.
