When we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, our faith journey is just beginning. As we commit ourselves to BEING more Holy and Christlike, we also commit ourselves to DOING his will even though we are not saved by those good works we do.
Likewise, it is good to read stories about missionaries and learn to appreciate how God has used them in their obedience, this alone is not enough! We really learn how to be intentional in our outreach and strategic in our methodologies as we build genuine relationships with others.
To prepare we must gain a foundational knowledge of sound missiology (the theory and practice of missions). For the past few years, I have attempted to help NMI members of this district to do so by sharing some of the most insightful mission education books I know to be available.
Here is the list of the books highlighted in NMI Newsletters since 2021, plus two new missiology books that I am sure you will want to add to your library and put to good use.
Passion for the Heart of God by John Willis Zumwalt
The Crescent Through the Eyes of the Cross by Nabeel Jabbour
Resources from Howard Culbertson:
Ten ways to ruin your short-term mission trip (snarky version! )
Work and Witness Reports:
Indonesia Work and Witness 2024 (Bethel Church, posted by Dave Kerr)
Intermountain District Church of the Nazarene
Nazarene Missions International (NMI)
"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
