While online courses provide many benefits in regards to flexible scheduling, increased course offerings, and instruction that integrates essential life skills, it is important to note that successful online learners possess the following attributes:
Persistence
Self-motivation
Independent learner
Good written communication skills
Effective time management skills
Basic computer skills
Good attendance record
Willingness to ask for help and be vocal when there are problems or questions
Note: In elementary, especially early elementary, most learners need a dedicated Learning Coach (or Coaches) to assist so you may want to consider using an Online Learning Commitment Form that includes families. Sample at the very bottom of this page.
