Their goal is to ensure you have the information and guidance you need to make informed decisions about your academic and financial journey at John Jay.

What to do when you hit a roadblock?

Of course, it's great to map out your road to graduation, hope for ideal circumstances, and stay the course. Since life is so unpredictable - you might need to withdraw from a course or experience barriers to passing - it's likely that you'll hit a roadblock and that TOTALLY OKAY! It's what you do after you hit that roadblock that matters.

Talk to your professors early and often to consider ways you can improve and options you have BEFORE you need to withdraw or fail a course. Professors may be able to provide a modified timeline, extra credit, and other ways you can salvage your grade. If you don't ask, you won't know!
Making up credits in the summer and winter semesters - catch up on credits outside of fall and spring AND look for opportunities for tuition assistance like the Acceleration Program and pay no out-of-pocket tuition!
Be aware of redemption policies like the Freshman Forgiveness Policy and the CUNY F-Repeat Policy that will allow you to retake a course without harming your GPA! First Year Programs and Academic Advisement can help you determine if these, or other college policies, would be helpful to your circumstances.
