Changes in global climatic patterns and associated impacts on forestry production landscapes prompted questions regarding ecosystem services and its role in human well-being.
Forestry landscapes can be more than just sources of timber and fiber – they can potentially provide a spectrum of ecosystem services in support of whole socio-ecological systems.
Plantation forest landscapes have the potential to provide wide array of goods, services, ecological functions, as well as direct benefits to society and the environment.
This demand is likely to increase in South Africa, with its prominent challenges associated with environmental degradation, socio-economic disparities and predicted changes in climatic patterns.
