Item #: SCP-953
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-953 is to be kept in a Type 4 containment cell (4 m x 3 m x 3 m) at the end of Hallway 99 at Site-45.
Small luxury items (plum wine, reading materials, etc.) may be provided as an occasional reward for good behavior as part of psychological conditioning.
SCP-953 is to be considered hostile to human life, dangerous, and armed at all times; any transport must be done under the supervision of at least six (6) armed personnel. Its preferred killing method is a bare-handed strike to the abdomen, penetrating the abdominal cavity and removing the liver, which it will later consume. If given time, however, it will choose to linger over its kill, torturing its victim, as it seems to enjoy the infliction of pain upon another sentient being.
Description:
SCP-953 is a female Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes) approximately 8 kg in weight, with a spine that splits around the 26th vertebra into nine separate tails. Subject displays polymorphic properties, however, allowing it to take the form of various other objects and beings (most commonly, an attractive Korean female).1 Subject will display some vulpine aspect (ears, tail, paws, eyes, fur, voice, mannerisms) in all of its alternate forms: this can serve to identify the subject should it attempt disguise, although SCP-953 will attempt to conceal its tails through clothing and other methods.
In addition to polymorphic abilities, SCP-953 displays moderate level psionic abilities, namely suggestion and telepathy. Although insufficient to fool an outside observer, an entranced subject can be convinced of a variety of false facts, including the nature of SCP-953, its own nature, and the nature of things around it. SCP-953 has used this in the past to, among other things: deceive police officers investigating reports of loud screams from a hotel room, convince a mother to roast and eat her own child, carry out acts of necrophilia upon Agent Ramsey's fiance in full view of said Agent, and succeed in the systematic murder of 27 attendees of "YiffCon 2███"
Addendum 1:
Prior History SCP-953 has been encountered by the SCP Foundation and its predecessors numerous times, with the first encounter having taken place in Busan, Korea, shortly after the Second World War. To date, SCP-953 has escaped and been recovered six times, resulting in the deaths of █ SCP agents during various incidents.
After its latest escape, SCP-953 was not heard from for over ██ years, until suddenly resurfacing in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on June 2███ at "YiffCon 2███," which it had been attending in the guise of a "furry" enthusiast. Before being captured, SCP-953 carried out over two dozen murders of convention staff and attendees, more than during any other single incident to date. The mutilated bodies were found in various places throughout the hotel, including: inside a mattress, hanging from a shower curtain, and served as the main course at a hotel banquet. Surviving attendees were administered Class A Amnesiacs and released from Foundation custody.
Foundation personnel assigned to capture SCP-953 after this latest incident noted that the subject appeared listless and apathetic, and did not resist capture. No further casualties have resulted from SCP-953 from that date.
Addendum 2:
Special Emergency Order As misidentification of her species tends to violently agitate SCP-953, all personnel are to be hereby ordered to refer to her as a "Kumiho," and not a "Kitsune." Personnel asking what the difference is are to be reminded of the difference between a Cherokee Indian and a New Delhi Indian. - O5-██

Addendum 5: Hostile Internal Event Log / Site-45
An incident occurred at Site-45. SCP-953 exhibited a series of highly structured and ritualized behaviors directed at several Level 2 personnel. The event took place in the Underground Technical Wing, with no prior activation of containment protocols and no detectable indications of physical breach.
Throughout the event, SCP-953 remained physically unlocated, manifesting through targeted sensory alterations, possibly of a memetic or extrasensory nature. The interactions observed were uniform among the affected subjects, suggesting a premeditated pattern of psychological and symbolic control.
The initial phase began without warning. The subjects reported being directly and simultaneously approached by a verbal projection emitted by SCP-953, described as a “seductive, sarcastic, and authoritative voice.” This voice manifested without a clear point of origin, resonating directly in each individual’s personal space, regardless of physical location or acoustic isolation.
During this phase, the surroundings were gradually affected as SCP-953 attempted to demonstrate its control over the site and personnel. Various reports indicate that SCP-953 forced the subjects to direct their attention toward it, causing discomfort, agitation, or partial trance-like states. The affected personnel lost motor control while the voice spoke, as though being guided by a dominant presence.
SCP-953 imposed a “choice” structure upon each subject. SCP-953’s voice, now slower and more ritualistic, attempted to further demonstrate its control by asking the affected individuals who they would worship.
Each option resulted in a distinct consequence, although all shared the common denominator of reinforcing the narrative of submission to the entity:
Option 1: "No one"
Warning: Let this be the last option you choose so you can enjoy the full event
Subjects who refused to interact with SCP-953 or adopted a defiant stance were immediately punished. Personal items were removed from their reach or displaced to unknown locations. The background changed to dark patterns and incoherent symbology. Subjects reported a loss of control over their limbs for several seconds, followed by forced ejection from the facility through the abrupt closure of automated doors. Additionally, some subjects reported losing their sense of pleasure while viewing erotic images.
Option 2: "Kitsune"
A limited number of individuals referred to SCP-953 using the term “kitsune,” which resulted in an immediate reaction of fury. The environment turned dark red, lighting altered without technical explanation, and the entity projected a floating symbol with the word “UNWORTHY.” Subjects were then surrounded by rapid and incoherent visual projections, impossible to block or avoid, during a timed period of three minutes. During this time, personnel lost complete motor and verbal control until unconsciousness was reached.
Note from Addendum 2: As misidentification of her species tends to violently agitate SCP-953, all personnel are hereby ordered to refer to her as a "Kumiho," and not a "Kitsune."
Option 3: "Goddess Kumiho"
Those who submitted verbally and symbolically to SCP-953 were rewarded. The environment was radically transformed: walls, floors, and even the personal belongings of individuals acquired a visual pattern that subjects described as a “sacred sanctuary.” Work tools began to behave illogically but decoratively: objects moved inversely, colors were altered, and all possibility of environmental restoration was blocked. SCP-953’s voice became affectionate and calm. After this phase, subjects were gently separated from the workspace environment, losing consciousness in a similar manner.
After the conclusion of the event, Site-45 was declared to be on Level 3 alert status until the complete absence of any persistent manifestations of SCP-953 was confirmed. Under the direct supervision of O5-7, a memetic cleaning and full operational restoration of the affected wing was conducted. The exposed subjects were isolated for psychological evaluation and narrative deprogramming, initiating a memory recovery protocol. All anomalous displacement logs were traced and reversed, and the system’s name routes were reinstated after thorough analysis by the Containment Department.
The physical and symbolic environment of Site-45 was re-stabilized using standard environmental neutralization protocols, including the ritualistic purging of affected surfaces, symbolic structural reconfiguration, and a complete reboot of the central system. Personnel are reminded that manifestations of SCP-953 do not always require a physical breach to be considered hostile and must be responded to with the same operational rigor.
