1ST EDITION - UIRESDEV 2023
In commemoration of the University of Ibadan’s 75th anniversary, the hackathon is being organized by the Research and Development Committee (RESDEV) tagged “UIRESDEV_HACK” to provide a platform for students with diverse skills and backgrounds to come together, fostering collaboration and the exchange of ideas to solve pressing issues in the university.
It promises to be the biggest and largest hackathon in the University of Ibadan aiming to bring students together from diverse areas of specialization in the university to foster a sense of community and collaboration as well as to craft solutions that would redefine life on the University campus.
Top finalist would be invited to the Exhibition Fair on October 31st where they would meet potential investors.
THEMES AND CHALLENGES
Challenge: Sustainable Energy Solutions
Problem Statement: Develop innovative solutions to address the electricity problem and promote sustainable energy practices within the university campus and surrounding community.
Challenge: Future of Transportation
Problem Statement: Design and develop solutions to improve transportation systems within the university, considering factors such as efficiency, accessibility, sustainability, and reducing carbon emissions.
Challenge: Digitizing Staff Promotion Processes
Problem Statement: Create a digital platform or system that automates and streamlines the staff promotion process, ensuring transparency, fairness, and efficiency.
Challenge: Smart Infrastructure Management
Problem Statement: Develop a solution that utilizes IoT (Internet of Things) and data analytics to effectively manage and maintain university infrastructure, ensuring optimal resource utilization, preventive maintenance, and cost savings.
Challenge: Enhanced Payment Systems
Problem Statement: Design and implement an improved payment system that simplifies financial transactions within the university, incorporating features such as mobile payments, online platforms, chip-embedded School ID Card and secure digital wallets.
Challenge: Sustainable Water Management
Problem Statement: Develop innovative solutions to optimize water usage and conservation within the university, focusing on reducing water wastage while pumping, leak detection, and water quality monitoring.
Challenge: Advancing Electronic Health Records
Problem Statement: Design and implement a comprehensive and user-friendly electronic health record system for the university's health center, integrating patient data, appointment scheduling, prescription management, and data analytics for improved healthcare delivery.
Challenge: Unlocking the Potential of Digital Student ID Cards
Problem Statement: Create innovative applications and features that leverage the digital student ID card system, enhancing its functionality beyond identification to include services such as access control, cashless transactions, attendance tracking, library management, or campus navigation.
Challenge: Alumni Crowdfunding Tracker
Problem Statement: Develop a platform or tool that enables the university to track and showcase alumni crowdfunding initiatives, providing transparency, accountability, and engagement opportunities for alumni, students, hall of residence and the wider community.
Challenge: Smart Campus Entry Management for vehicles
Create a digitised system for capturing car plate numbers and other details at the school entry gate, leveraging technology to enhance security, streamline vehicle access, and improve traffic flow.
Challenge: Sustainable Food Ordering Management
Problem Statement: Develop an innovative food ordering and management system for restaurants on campus that promotes sustainable practices, reduces food waste, and enhances the dining experience for students and staff.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Team should consists of 1 - 5 members; you can either hack solo or with a team
Only University of Ibadan students are eligible (Undergraduate & Postgraduate)
Pick a challenge and build a solution to solve it using technology. (whether software or hardware)
Team must consists diverse backgrounds e.g. Project managers, developers, business analysts, designers and so on
