Requiem Nex Combat Monitor

A heads-up display for use with Age of Conan

Requiem Nex Combat Monitor is a real-time log file monitoring application for use with the online MMORPG “Age of Conan” that provides a heads-up display of in game timers, sound and speech warning alerts, and generates statistical encounter reports.

Requiem Nex Combat Monitor tails the log file generated by Age of Conan and fires customized helpful events, such as sounds or on screen messages in order to enhance the gaming experience, and allow the user to act almost pre-emptively to in game conditions.

Requiem Nex Combat Monitor is the culmination of over 5 years of game knowledge I learnt from leading raids, 6 mans, and all the different classes in the game, and works purely off the log file log events during 2010 - 2016. There are no “tricks” that would be considered malicious, such as memory monitoring in cheat tools. Almost every 6 man and raid has personally had its mechanics analyzed, its combat log scrutinized, and the result is the “spidey-sense” heads up display and audible alerts produced by Requiem Nex Combat Monitor.

Usage

A major feature, as you can see in the YouTube video, is the heads up display. These are windows that sit on top of your Age of Conan game window, so that means your game must be running in Windowed Mode, or full screen windowed mode for that feature to work.

To start generating a log file, in your Age of Conan chat window type

/logcombat on

It’s recommended you do this before starting the Requiem Nex Combat Monitor program, however it is not required to. The program will periodically scan for a new log file if there is about 20 seconds of inactivity in the current log it is looking at. After starting the program, press the START button, and that’s it.

In its default state, it pretty much has everything most people want – just fire and forget.

For the more advanced users, it has the ability to add new triggers. The free version is limited to 2 custom triggers, and does not allow toggling off any of the built-in triggers.

Too long didn't read:

  1. In the Age of Conan chat window, type /logcombat on

  2. Run the Requiem Nex Combat Monitor program

  3. Press START (at the top right of Requiem Nex Combat Monitor) then go back to your game window.

Notes

  • Requiem Nex Combat Monitor is no longer under active development, so I've made it completely free and unlimited

  • When you alt-tab, sometimes the text-overlay can forget which window it is supposed to be on top of. Simply alt-tab to Combat Monitor, then click in your game window to fix that

  • I have not done any translations, and the Combat Log is affected by what language you are running your game in. Only the English game client is supported at the moment.

  • Sometimes when Age of Conan crashes, the log file can get stuck, preventing you from creating a new one. To fix this, in your chat window type /logcombat off

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Why are some timers, like Arbanus Blood Draw, or Cavern of Malice emotes only triggered when they finish casting, when it would be much more useful when they start casting?

A. Well this is a problem with the Combat Log. Funcom doesn't put these things into the Combat Log until the spell affects / does damage to someone. Sometimes events like this can be predicted based on the previous time it was cast, but sometimes they cannot. Unfortunately that is the way it is, I am restricted by what and when things appear in the combat logs.

Q. Why does everything drop to less than 5 frames per second when I use your program?

A. Make sure you don't have Windows Aero disabled. Surprisingly, Windows Aero actually negatively optimizes things like transparency in applications.
