As his eyelids drooped more and more frequently over his remaining
eye, he suddenly caught the familiar scent of a fire — which could
mean only one of two things. Either there was a blaze, though he
could see no sign of one. Or someone else had set up camp. Falrith
swallowed hard but urged Silius to trot faster. Perhaps the chance of a
hot meal wasn't as hopeless as he had thought — provided he had
something to offer in exchange. And Falrith surely did.
Falrith dismounted; a false, mischievous smile spread across his face
as he pointed with trembling fingers toward the cooking pot. "A
trade", the raven explained, taking another step toward the strangers.
"A hot meal in exchange for... well, what I can offer you." He tossed
his cloak over his shoulder and tugged at the laces of his shirt, baring
his chest. Falrith tilted his head slightly, seductive grin widening.
