Replast Lab is a creative startup that transforms plastic waste into unique and eco-friendly products such as lamps, plaques, accessories, and home decor. It began as a community project where a team of university students experimented with simple tools and successfully created recycled products that won 1st Place for Outstanding Product. Since then, Replast has continued to grow, actively participating in various workshops on plastic waste processing and functional product design—demonstrating a strong commitment to innovation and sustainability.
Low Waste Reduction at Source
According to SIPSN data, the amount of waste reduced at the source (such as households and industries) remains very low compared to the total waste generated. This shows that consumer behavior has not significantly shifted, and reduce, reuse, recycle (3R) practices are still not widely implemented.
Dominance of Organic and Plastic Waste
SIPSN reports that the composition of waste in Indonesia is dominated by organic waste (around 50–60%) and plastic waste (around 15–20%). The issue arises as organic waste often ends up in landfills unprocessed, releasing greenhouse gases, while plastic waste is non-biodegradable and frequently pollutes rivers and oceans.
Overreliance on Landfills (TPA)
Most of Indonesia’s waste is still disposed of directly into landfills without proper sorting or treatment. SIPSN data shows that over 60% of waste is managed through landfill dumping, even though many landfills are already overcapacity. This highlights a lack of circular economy-based waste management systems.
The Bluetooth Speaker Night Lamp is an innovative product resulting from a collaboration between Replast and a student from Unikom, developed to participate in the Student Creativity Program competition. This product combines the function of a night lamp with a Bluetooth speaker, creating a comfortable and multifunctional audiovisual experience.
The Bluetooth Speaker Night Lamp was also exhibited at Pos Bloc Jakarta during the M Bloc Design Week event, a venue that showcases Sustainable Design Products. This product not only provides soft lighting ideal for relaxation, but also comes with a high-quality speaker supporting Bluetooth connectivity, allowing users to easily enjoy music directly from their devices.

Instititut Teknologi Nasional of Bandung
During the workshop, Japanese students were given a demonstration on processing plastic waste into useful products and making bricks and paving blocks from incinerated waste ash.
A relaxing jog with a mission to protect the Earth!
In collaboration with Janévalla Bandung & Satu Interaksi, this 5KM un run invited participants—including the Mayor of Bandung—to jog while collecting inorganic waste along the route.
The event also included an educational session on the dangers of plastic waste, the different types of plastic, and which ones can be recycled by our team.
The result? A total of 24.19 kg of inorganic waste was successfully collected and will be processed by us into valuable recycled products.
As a token of appreciation, every participant received a special medal made from recycled plastic—designed and produced by our team.
One small step, a big impact for the planet 🌍✨
In this activity, we educated the participants about the dangers of plastic waste, the different types of plastic, and the 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) concept. Additionally, we invited them to directly process plastic waste into card holders that they could use themselves.
The purpose of conducting the Waste Processing Workshop for students is to shift their mindset about plastic waste—from being seen solely as an environmental threat to being recognized as a resource. In addition, the workshop aims to enhance children's creativity in transforming plastic waste into usable products.
