CROK: Creek County Melee

Repeat Robotics brought two robots to this event. Our Beetleweight Drisk, Ablation, as well as a new fairyweight made from two Hexbug toys: Not Duck!Video from that event can be found here: Creek County Melee

There were only 5 Beetleweights attending the event, so the tournament was run in a Round Robin style. Ablation finished in second place with a 3-1 record, but two of those wins were because opponents forfeited. This was a rather disappointing turnout, as we didn't get much of a chance to test the improvements to Ablation, however we did the best we could.

Fairyweights also suffered low attendance, with only 3 bots passing safety. Not Duck! went 1-1 in a round robin tournament, losing a JD to a wedge, and winning a knockout against an undercutter. A rumble was held in order to determine the winners of the Fairyweight bracket, and Not Duck! placed second, losing by Judges Decision to the same undercutter we had previously beaten. We then entered it into the antweight rumble, and were one of 2 surviving bots at the end of the three minute slugfest. We surprised everyone by taking the judges decision in that match, winning against robots that were 6 times the size.

Overall Repeat Robotics went 5-2, winning second place with both robots.

Rocket Republic Taproom Tapout #4

Repeat Robotics brought our Beetleweight drum spinner, "Medium Rare". Again, due to some electronic failures, we went 0-2. We have not been able to nail down exactly what is causing our electronic failures, but after this last competition, we have reason to believe it is a bad power switch. We have plans to make significant changes to Medium Rare, but until then, Medium Rare is not ready to fight.

Spinner's Spring 2021

Repeat Robotics brought both of our Beetleweight robots (Medium Rare and Ablation) as well as our minibot (Your Favorite Beer) to Spinner's Spring.

Ablation's fights from Spinner's Spring 21 can be found here: Spinner's Spring 21

Ablation's maiden fight was against Honeycomb, a drum. Ablation dominated the fight, leading to a tap-out less than 10 seconds into the match. Ablation's second fight was against Malice, a bot with an extremely large beater bar. This was another quick fight, we flipped malice over, and they were unable to self-right. Our third fight was against John, a large Horizontal Spinner. We were overweight with our wedge attachment, so we had to run with our wejlets on the front. At the start of the fight, we box rushed John, throwing him into the air before he had a chance to get to full speed. For the next 40 seconds of the match, we stayed on him, disabling the weapon and constantly throwing him into the ceiling. At 40 seconds into the match, we had a particularly strong hit that flipped the bot over. This was when the problems started. Due to weight issues, we had to remove the bearings at the top of Ablation's weapon support rails, this meant that we were unable to drive inverted. John still had one drive wheel working and was able to crabwalk, winning the match. While we were disappointed in the way that this match went, we put on a great show for the crowd and still could make our way up the loser bracket. Our next opponent was Honeycomb (again). This fight went a little differently than our first fight against them, and after a few back and forth exchanges of hits we were flipped upside down. We were out of the tournament. As we packed up to leave, I already started planning improvements that I would make to the bot.

Medium Rare's first fight was against Adamantium, a grabber/flamethrower. After a minute or so of the match, we experienced an electronics failure causing the bot to stop working. Afterwards, we were unable to get the bot functioning for the second match, so we entered Your Favorite Beer into the arena instead, as a stress test. The second opponent was Hound, a Drisk with a unique counter-gyro system. Your favorite beer held up great, losing a wheel near the end of the fight leading to a tapout loss. Overall there are some significant changes that we want to make to Medium Rare to make it more reliable.

Rocket Republic Taproom Tapout #3

Repeat Robotics brought our antweight robot, Well Done, to compete. We also sponsored another combat team with an antweight robot "Not so Well Done" and a beetleweight robot "Medium Rare". Well done went 3-2 winning second place. Not so Well Done went 2-2 finishing in fifth place. Medium Rare won its only fight at the competition finishing in first place.

CHAMP Makerspace October

Repeat Robotics brought our 300g wedge robot, BRICC, to the October CHAMP competition. BRICC lost its first match due to an arena fault, but won the next 6 matches in a row for Repeat's first tournament win.

6-1 record, first place finish

CHAMP Makerspace june

The July CHAMP competition was Repeat Robotics' first event as a team. We competed with our 300g vertical spinner, Ablation. Ablation went 2-2 throughout the competition and was able to severely damage three robots that it faced. It ended up being completely destroyed when it faced the reigning champion, and had to be completely re-built at the event between fights.
