Below are just a sampling of the letters we received during the campaign.
Listen, The Acolyte is the boldest damn thing to hit the Star Wars universe in years. It’s like they finally had the guts to dive into the dark, twisted depths of the Force, and I’m here for it. The way it digs into the High Republic era with all its shadows and secrets? It’s gripping.
For me, The Acolyte isn’t just a show; it’s a journey into the core of what makes Star Wars epic. It’s raw, it’s gritty, and it doesn’t shy away from the complexities of the Force. The show’s deep dive into the Sith’s machinations, especially with Plagueis finally making a canon appearance on screen, is something we’ve needed for a long time. It adds layers to the saga that are both thrilling and sinister, pushing the boundaries of what we know.
We need more seasons, plain and simple. Not just for the continuation of these incredible storylines, but to see more of Darth Plagueis’s rise to power. Imagine peeling back the layers on his dark experiments and the sheer terror he brings to the galaxy. This isn’t just about fan service; it’s about expanding the Star Wars mythos in a way that’s as dark and twisted as it is captivating. Renewing The Acolyte is a no-brainer for anyone who loves the raw, unfiltered power of the Force and the stories that come with it. — Rahul KR
— Isabelly
I never thought I would be interested in anything related to Star Wars, but this series enchanted me, the whole story, the combat [scenes], the relationship between Osha and Mae, and especially the relationship between Osha and Qimir (The Stranger). It had been a long time since I [saw] an enemies-to-lovers story this good. They have SO much chemistry that you can feel while watching the series, and “The Stranger” is such a fascinating and intriguing character. I really want to know more about his story. I really want and need to be able to see the development of Oshamir, Osha and Mae, and also more about “The Stranger.” This series was what I needed, [and] I really hope it gets renewed and gets more seasons.
Star Wars needs more people like Leslye with a clear vision and a powerful emotional story to tell. The Acolyte is a breath of fresh air, exploring some interesting topics in the Star Wars universe. Instead of relying on cameos and nostalgia, it develops the universe with new details that explore the concepts we know and love from the movies. It also has cool kung fu force fighting and a love story which every show should. — William Russell
Not every Star Wars fan is a straight white man. I'm tired of all content being directed towards them. The Acolyte has everything I love about Star Wars after a long time feeling not seen in this fandom. It deserves more seasons and I deserve it as a fan.
The story and incredible characters in this show need to be continued. This show expands the lore of Star Wars beyond the Skywalkers which is so needed in this franchise after nearly 50 years.
The way that showrunner, Leslye Headland, and actors Amandla Stenberg and Manny Jacinto talks about this show, these characters, and Star Wars overall is refreshing and speaks to me as a fan, along with a large percentage of the fanbase. We feel our loyalty to this story and this brand after so long being ignored should be rewarded. — Alizabeth
We want more romance! There's so little romance that it brought to the forefront in Star Wars and the story set up in the first season of The Acolyte is RIPE for more story. — mrdarthdarcy
The Acolyte is the most fun I’ve had watching a show in SO long. I love the subtle romance in it (enemies-to-lovers. Need I say more?). The fight sequences??? INCREDIBLE. The plot? INCREDIBLE. Everything was incredible for me. This is also the first time in a while I think a man is written for the female gaze and that’s always refreshing. — Kiley
As somebody who grew up in a dangerous community, I grew up very sheltered. I couldn’t go outside unless I was on my front porch and when you live in a house with 6+ chain smokers I pretty much had to stay inside. We had no books, so I was [restricted] to a phone book and the dictionary. The only form of escape that I had was TV. In it I got to see new worlds follow characters through adventures and watch stories unfold. As someone who had no opportunity to make friends TV became my only one.
As I got older TV started to change episodes went from 25 episodes a season to 12 if you’re lucky. Shows get canceled left and right after one season. Stories would forgo storytelling for action. Needless to say me and TV’s relationship has strained over the years. In all honesty, I wasn’t gonna watch The Acolyte until I saw people online saying how great it was. To my surprise, we got a story that actually made you think about life and perspectives; what’s right and wrong; and introduces lore and story-building that makes me wonder about it even when the TV is off. Characters that leave me wanting to know more.
Unfortunately, it was only 8 episodes but in those 8 episodes, Lesley really gave us a satisfying story that left us craving more. This is the first time in a long time that I [saw] a community actually do critical and rhetorical analysis of every little moment. Where people are actually excited [about] sharing theories. Please don’t let the hate get to you. I feel like I finally have my friend back. — Quanai McClain
The Acolyte has meant so much to me as a casual fan of Star Wars and a person of colour. I love watching morally complex and nuanced individuals with conflicting values and motives on screen, with different perspectives fleshed out. We've never gotten a proper look at a Darksider relationship outside of The Sith before, and there's so much potential in Osha's and the Stranger's relationship, not just romantically but how he can encourage her to her full potential. I'm also so excited for Mae's Jason Bourne-style set-up in future seasons. Renew The Acolyte so we can get more excellent storytelling! — Sabs
This show is what got me into Star Wars. Before this show, I never had [an] interest in the series but it’s gained my attention now. I felt like Star Wars never had enough to keep me interested, like romance or diversity. Although the show is only around 2 months old, it’s gained [and] sustained a fandom and it will only grow larger now that the season finale is out. — Taniyah Powell
As a woman of color (Mexican) it was about damn time the main characters [of Star Wars] weren’t ghost white. More Amandla Stenberg and exploring the powers she shared with her mother, more Qimir and revealing his real name (it better be Ren btw). For every woman who is pushed out of fandoms for simply being a woman, this show is for us. Don’t you dare take it away! — Lucia
This show is great! It has interesting characters and great storylines. I've never been so excited for a Star Wars show as I am about The Acolyte. It 100% deserves a second season! The writers and actors for the show are just amazing. Please, please, please renew this show! — Jinah
The Acolyte is a breathtaking fresh perspective on our beloved galaxy far, far away. With its unique place on the timeline, there’s a true feeling that anything can happen and that is so exciting to experience again! The diverse cast and crew feel real and representative of our own world, and the story that Leslye has begun deserves to be told! It’s exciting, funny, frightening, heartwarming, and heartbreaking in equal measure, all while catering to a subset of the fandom that has long since been discounted and ignored in our pleading for new stories and characters. We feel seen by The Acolyte, and that is a special thing indeed. — Callie
Having been a Star Wars fan since I was in utero (apparently I saw Return of the Jedi that way), I've spent almost 4 decades loving the entirety of the universe. From the films, to the books, to the old Star Wars Magazine I had a subscription to, I've grown up suffused in the universe. I'm even going to cling to the Twitter handle Kylo Ren-Faire because not only is Kylo amazing, that pun is on point.
The last few years, I've struggled to keep up with all of the content.. I was finding it harder to be excited and engaged, especially given the atrocious rise of fanboys who dedicate their time and energy to hating and sabotaging all things Star Wars. I didn't even finish Andor, Kenobi, or Ahsoka. The Acolyte changed that. Not only is it some of the best Star Wars content we've gotten in years, but it renewed my love for Star Wars. I went back and binged all of the shows I felt disconnected in, picked up the new books to get even more invested in the newer content. It reignited the spark that almost went out.
Every new character resonated, either in a positive or enjoyably negative way. Sol is now my answer for "Who is your favorite Jedi?" And The Stranger... He might be the best villain since Vader. And that is coming from someone rocking a Kylo name since The Force Awakens. Plus, anyone that wasn't on their feet seeing a Wookie Jedi kicking all kinds of ass is either a liar, or very boring. What surprised me the most is how we got some of the best lightsaber fights since the prequels. It far outdid every episode of the new trilogy, and outdoes most of the prequels. The entire show hit on all cylinders. There were certainly missteps, as there always is, but I cannot wait for a second season. This is the Star Wars we want and need. Something challenging, but infinitely relatable.
Please give us more Acolyte. — Adam
It was one of the best Star Wars things that I've ever experienced! My love for the franchise returned, and [it] made me feel alive again! I was having an art block and now I'm inspired to make drawings about the characters. — Kamila Tostes
There’s a lot I could say about my love for The Acolyte. As a lifelong Star Wars fan, this franchise is something I have been raised with and loved since I was a toddler. I met my husband because of Star Wars, several songs from the original trilogy and prequels played at our wedding and the film The Last Jedi helped me get through an extremely difficult time in my life while I was earning my doctorate. This show is the first property since The Last Jedi to really ignite my love for Star Wars and leave me wanting more. It not only drew me in with an amazing story and extremely talented cast, but Leslye herself makes me feel seen and understood in ways no other show-runner in this franchise has.
As a pansexual woman, the LGBT+ representation in this show through its characters and cast has been so validating to see on screen. I have really related to some of the things that the main characters have gone through, and the quote “The Jedi say that I shouldn’t exist” really hit home for me. The sense of agency the main characters have in choosing their paths is refreshing and the acknowledgment of a morally grey area in between dark and light is one of the best parts of the storyline.
As a former Catholic who has experienced the worst parts of what those with a sense of moral superiority can do, the themes in the Jedi storyline of this show moved me and helped me deal with some of the deep scars and trauma of my childhood. I can see myself in several of the characters, and I have found myself discussing this show in therapy as a way to help me understand my trauma and put my feelings to words in new ways.
The enemies-to-lovers storyline is extremely well done and another thing that I am extremely excited to see put to screen in a well-written way. As a woman, I have long felt that certain storytelling tropes have been ignored by franchises simply because they are seen as something that tends to be aimed at female audiences. So many of this show’s critics have used that as the major pillar for which they base their hatred, further showing their misogyny and trying to banish and alienate a large section of Star Wars’ fanbase. I implore you to listen to the shows intended audience as stated by Leslye Headland herself and renew The Acolyte for a second season.
Lastly, this show has done wonders for me in the midst of one of the hardest years of my life. I broke my ankle due to negligence and have been suffering from pretty severe depression ever since. I lost my ability to run, which is something I have always loved to do. This show and the positive fan community surrounding it has done so much for my mental health. It gave me a community to belong to and has given me something to look forward to over the past several weeks. I would love to be able to look forward to additional seasons of this show, as I haven’t felt this much joy over a piece of media since before the pandemic.
Please listen to the fans that have truly watched and enjoyed this show and renew it for another season. — Victoria Raimondi
Nothing has attracted me to the Star wars franchise quite like this show. It means so much to me to have a show written so well with the perspective and eye of a woman behind and around it. Media and entertainment is so dominated to cater to a man's point of view and I have lived and enjoyed so many of those shows. But this show transcends Star Wars. It is one of a kind. It has really hammered home to me that representation matters.
Please, please continue to support Lesley and all the people who made this show possible. I have always been a lurker and for the first time, [this series] sparked me to be active like no other piece of art. — Feba
The Acolyte was the first Star Wars series I actively engaged with in terms of online discussion. The only other Star Wars show I had previously watched was The Mandalorian. I only started watching The Acolyte because of the cast; TikTok edits of The Stranger popped up, Lee Jung-jae's involvement, and familiar faces like Dafne Keen (X-23) and Amandla Stenberg (Rue).
It was not long before I had caught up and was pleasantly surprised at how I really enjoyed the show. The complicated relationship with Sol and Osha, the Jedi being flawed, and an enemies-to-lovers trope were some factors that I enjoyed. A season 2 would help clear a lot of questions that were left up in the air and give more room to explore my, now, beloved characters: Osha/Qimir, Qimir/Vernestra, and Mae/Osha.
At this point, I am heavily invested in these characters and look forward to seeing where they end up. I hope this means that a Season 2 is approved to explore these relationships and unanswered questions. — Novilia
Overall, there are so many things I love being shown in The Acolyte. I love seeing a new side to Star Wars that includes The High Republic. I enjoyed a different perspective on the Force and the Jedi. It’s incredible to see so many people of color on screen. I love the risks being taken it’s these new stories like The Acolyte, Ahsoka, Book of Boba Fett, etc. I can’t wait to see more of this story specifically.
I appreciate that we’re not limited to the set structures of a certain number of episodes or length. I think it’s worth taking the risks and shifts that we’re seeing to find new stories and angles. I think there’s more to uncover here and more stories to tell. Thank you. — Emma Bowlby
The Acolyte has revitalized my love for Star Wars and its fan community. The weekly experience of watching and discussing the series with other fans has been a wonderful experience. An experience I don’t want to give up.
The Acolyte takes on complex themes and characters, and I believe it enriches the storytelling of the entire franchise. I’ve loved the mythic elements of Star Wars since childhood and I was DEEPLY moved by the mythic storytelling in this series. This was a new kind of heroine’s journey in Star Wars, and I would love to see it develop further! Please renew The Acolyte for more seasons! — Emma G.
I love The Acolyte! I need a second season because I want to know more about the past of the connection between Vern and Qimir and the role of Darth Plagueis in all of that. — Philipp

As we build a new community around this show, it's clear that The Acolyte has the potential to become a cornerstone of the franchise. The rich storytelling and dynamic world-building present in the series demand more seasons to fully explore the depths of this fascinating dark side era. A protagonist like Osha has never gotten the spotlight like this. Qimir is one of THE most compelling characters we’ve seen since the original trilogy.
The Acolyte not only honors the legacy of Star Wars but also paves the way for a new generation of fans. As a lifetime fan, seriously since I was a toddler, it’s been incredible to see NEW fans experiencing the Star Wars catalogue, all off of watching The Acolyte. Its success underscores the need for continued investment in innovative storytelling within the galaxy far, far away. — Tramayne
The Acolyte breathes new life into the Star Wars saga with its innovative storyline and unique characters. This series expertly delves into the dark side of the Force, providing fresh insights that enhance the Star Wars lore and attract a diverse audience of both veteran fans and newcomers.
The importance of introducing new narratives in the Star Wars universe is evident in how the acolyte builds a growing community around its intriguing plot. To fully explore the rich potential of this era, more seasons are essential!!!!
In essence, The Acolyte, not only respects the heritage of Star Wars but also invigorates it with fresh energy, underscoring the need for ongoing creative storytelling within this beloved galaxy. — Cary Green
This series is honestly great. I love the action and the dueling scenes are so awesome. Me and my family are hooked and a second season is a must. The acting is great, and the chemistry between Qimir and Osha was brilliant. And the direction for this series was also very engaging! — Shreya
Leslye Headland has done an absolutely amazing job creating The Acolyte, it's the first time I feel heard and seen as a female fan. The Acolyte has renewed my love in Star Wars, and I feel so energized to create and share my love for this show. Manny Jacinto and Amandla Stenberg absolutely killed it and their love and passion for their characters radiated through every scene. I need there to be a season 2, I actually need it to be several seasons! Please renew The Acolyte! — Sophie
This series brought me back to Star Wars after months of not caring about it. This show has finally given female fans something directly made for them. The focus on relationships, whether it be familial or romantic is such a deep and meaningful approach to storytelling. This show makes you care about its characters and we have only scratched the surface with some of them.
To have this show renewed and to learn more about The Stranger and Vernestra's past and to also see how The Stranger and Osha's relationship deepens as Osha navigates her new life, also what befalls Mae and how the sister's story progresses, how the Sith are tied into everything. There is so much more to learn and delve into, this story is far from over. — Yujin
It's inspiring to see a Star Wars show created by a queer woman and led by a diverse cast of incredibly talented and charismatic actors. It's also really great to see a property fully lean into the sexy, romantic, [and] mysterious side of Star Wars that so much of the fandom really, really loves (nay craves and eats up every little crumb that we get with vigor!) but rarely ever get. As a Reylo, it’s just nice to feel validated for once. Please don't take this away from us or the wonderful and incredibly deserving cast and crew. — Holly
The Acolyte brought back the magical feeling I experienced with the Prequel Trilogy, being in awe of the set pieces, the designs, and the active Jedi culture at work. Qimir/the Stranger and Master Sol have become two of my favourite characters in all of Star Wars (I'm 31, and I read all of the Legends books, most of the main comic, and literally learned English at age 4, because of my dad and I just watching the Original Trilogy on repeat).
My fiance has embraced Star Wars in her life over the last few years, but The Acolyte was the first series where she was actively checking in with fan theories and updates on her own. And MAJOR props to the stunt team: the choreography in the show is absolutely amazing. This was the first time since Nick Gillards work where I felt like my 6-year-old-self at the theatre, being in total awe at the magic at play. — Richard Bell
The Acolyte made me love Star Wars again. For the first time in years, I felt like the franchise valued me as part of its audience. I hadn't watched anything related to the brand since 2020 and I was completely detached from it, but I decided to give a new story with new characters a chance, hoping it could be a fresh start and something that could finally make me feel connected to Star Wars again. And I'm really glad I did watch it.
Having a narrative centered on imperfect people, even those we consider heroes, understanding the complexity of different perspectives was a new, bold, and interesting approach. I loved Sol, Osha, and Qimir and I really want to know what happens next. I'm sure there's a lot to explore and it wouldn't be fair to the audience to leave it incomplete. With the utmost hope, I kindly ask for a renewal. — Yasmin
For a long time, I have been a huge fan of the Star Wars series, but have felt jaded by how the series treated people of colour, especially in the Sequel Trilogy with the sidelining of Finn. With The Acolyte, I couldn't believe that we finally got a series starring a black woman, who has a rich backstory and where the narrative is centered on her. This is everything I ever wanted and I love how Leslye Headland is able to craft this series with such an intricate storyline, despite only being given eigh short episodes.
Real fans LOVE this show, real fans want to see the continuation of this story, and real fans love that Star Wars is able to celebrate people of colour and the LGBTQ community who make up the cast and crew of this show. — Beloved Fan
I'm a huge Star Wars fan and I've really enjoyed this season of The Acolyte. It's a fresh and interesting perspective on the Star Wars mythology. The story is clearly not over by the end of episode 8 and I would love to see a season 2. — Filip Finné Önell
The Acolyte, at times, was hard for me to watch. As a lifelong fan of the Jedi with my favorite fictional character being Obi-Wan Kenobi, seeing not just individual Jedi, but the whole Jedi Order portrayed so viscerally flawed made me uneasy. This is good. A character in the show says something to the effect of "When we are looking up to heroes, we don't have to see the truth." What a powerful lesson. Not that our heroes are actually evil, but that they are human and can at times be wrong. Those people and institutions we admire because they portray themselves as "good" will make horrific mistakes and we need to look past our biases and hold them accountable.
Leslye Headland showing the audience this lesson all while pulling off some of the best lightsaber fights in the franchise and giving us a powerful budding romance between 2 of the leads is a miracle and you should let her continue this story. — David
The community that The Acolyte has created has been the most fun I’ve ever had with Star Wars. The show kept us guessing and theorising throughout and I loved every single minute of it. Everyone involved did a phenomenal job and I have not been able to stop thinking about it for weeks.
The Acolyte gave us incredible performances, fantastic fight scenes, and some of the most compelling characters in the universe. The exploration of different relationships with the Force, nods to the High Republic readers, expansion on the existing lore, and the debate on the validity of the Jedi belief system truly created a one of kind show that quickly became my favourite piece of Star Wars media ever. It would be a shame to not allow it to continue. — Edith
I’ve been a Star Wars fan for as long as I can remember, but it wasn’t until the sequel trilogy that I started participating in the online community. I felt seen for the first time in the franchise. The Acolyte is that same feeling. Media created for all sorts of points of view is so important because you get the opportunity to grow your fan community. The Acolyte has inspired me to become active in the fandom again. I’ve rekindled old friendships from the sequel trilogy era, but I’ve also made new friends. It feels like one big family reunion.
The Acolyte inspired me to pick up my pencil again and create art after being blocked for so long. I know this is true for other artists and writers as well. When one connects to media, it can be so positive and transformative.
I would love The Acolyte to continue with more seasons so we can see Osha continue to ascend into the dark side, see the twins reunite again, learn about Qimir and Vernestra’s past relationship, and find out what Plagueis is up to. I would also like to shout out what a huge fan I am of Hanelle Culpepper’s directing and Michael Abels’ score. Most of all I want to thank Leslye Headland for creating something that so many of us are connecting with. — Alex
I have been a Star Wars fan since I was a kid, my Dad raised me on the original trilogy growing up. We had the 1995 VHS Box Set and it was always a must-have when we would go up north to my uncle’s cabin when we would go up fishing.
When I was a teenager, I found the prequels and fell even more in love, I also realized that the scary movie my Dad was watching that one time was actually The Phantom Menace and the scary guy was Darth Maul. But I found a new era of Star Wars that I fell for all on my own.
Then in 2015, The Force Awakens came out, and I fell even more in love with Ben and Rey. But the hate the Reylo fandom got over the years was very hard and I left Star Wars behind a few times for my own mental health.
But I always watched the shows, and that includes The Acolyte. And I can honestly say, I feel seen by the creators of Star Wars for the first time ever. The Acolyte is a beautiful show full of amazing actors and writing. The representation is a big bonus because not many POC actors get center stage in anything, let alone something as big as Star Wars. I have fallen in love with the story of Osha and Mae, and have fallen even harder for Qimir (seriously, Leslye Headland needs an award for casting Manny Jacinto).
The enemies-to-lovers romance between Osha and Qimir is the most exciting thing I’ve watched in years, I NEED to see Qimir train her, I need to see what happened with Qimir and Vernestra, I’m extremely interested in seeing where they take the Darth Plagueis story. I need a season two so much it hurts. This show is a wonderful addition to the already amazing Star Wars universe and it would be a shame for you to let it go too soon. The story itself is beautiful and it’s so refreshing to see something not revolve around the Skywalkers (as much as I love them, don’t get me wrong).
I just really hope you hear the better side of the fandom when we ask for a season 2, it would be so meaningful and powerful if you ignore the naysayers and renew it. I have fallen head over heels in love with Star Wars all over again, and that is because of The Acolyte. So please, if you are still reading this, please #RenewTheAcolyte — Emily
My love for Star Wars and its community has truly been revitalized, especially after episode 5. I've never seen a community come together as quickly and as loudly as it did then.
Season 1 was dark, sexy, and unique! I loved the ideas explored in The Acolyte and am dying to see what else Leslye and the rest of the creative team will cook up in another season. It would be a shame to see such a daring story not get a chance to be explored further. — Kylee R.
I have had so much fun with The Acolyte, both when watching the show, and when interacting with fellow fans and reading theories and opinions on the show. The fan edits and fan art have all been amazing to see. You can tell that the show is very well-loved. The final episode of the first season has left so much opportunity for a second one, and what could potentially happen has left us wanting more. Both the show and the community have brought me so much comfort. — N
“The Jedi live in a dream. A dream they believe everyone shares. If you attack a Jedi with a weapon, you will fail. Steel or laser are no threat to them. But an Acolyte, an Acolyte kills without a weapon. An Acolyte kills the dream.” - Qimir/The Stranger (Episode One, “Lost / Found”)
I was hesitant, at first, about The Acolyte. But then the intrigue of how and why the murder of Master Indara as well as Master Torbin hooked me. Then the fight choreography sunk the hook deeper- Carrie-Anne Moss still has her The Matrix chops. Then, the reveal of Qimir as The Stranger to, then, the beginnings of Oshamir pulled me up and caught me. All is to say is that amidst the review-bombing, I stuck through with The Acolyte- and I am glad that I did. I got to witness glorious live-action lightsaber combat that easily clears Ahsoka and the “Sequel Trilogy.” Thank you Lee Jung-jae and Manny Jacinto for that final fight. I got to witness Kyber Crystal bleeding and Darth Plagueis in live-action for the first time in the live-action medium. I got to experience the evolution, or rather devolution, of Sol and Osha as they fell into their own vices, and grief as Qimir rose.
The Acolyte isn’t without its flaws though, like the eight-episode format (definitely needs more episodes and would have helped to flesh out the characters and plot more), the use of the Volume, the lighting, and color grading are among my main criticisms: but it was NEVER the issue of so-called “woke” ideologies. Politically speaking, this is perfectly in line with (and somewhat the origins) how the “Prequel Trilogy” handled the politics of the corruption of Jedi as religious zealots in positions of power and control and how the Dark Side of The Force is an anarchistic and liberating allure. And I loved The Acolyte for that. It is a very read-between-the-lines series and as a person who loves analyzing films, TV series, and animanga I appreciated the nuances presented by Leslye Headland and the rest of the writing crew. Moreover, Michael Abels killed it with The Acolyte theme (present when Mae met Qimir in episode one, “Lost / Found,” and when Osha and Qimir held hands in episode eight, “The Acolyte”). Also, I NEED more Oshamir! #RenewTheAcolyte — A.B.
I've always been a Star Wars girl. My father introduced it to me and we'd always watch together as I was growing up. Out to the movies every opening weekend since I've been an adult (so that means back to the prequels), tuning in to every series on release. I imagined Leia wielding a lightsaber alongside Luke. I grew up in between the original trilogy and the prequels so my Star Wars content was very much EU. I wanted women characters like Mara Jade, Lumiya, and Jaina Solo.
With the prequels, I got Padme Amidala, and that was awesome. But ultimately she was part of a man's story progression, [despite] all of her agency. I got Ahsoka. And that's when I started falling even more in love with Star Wars. I got Asajj Ventress. I got the Kryze sisters. I got Barriss Offee. Women characters with so much character development. I got the KOTOR games and Bastila Shan and Kreia. I got SWTOR and all the many well-written characters. All the animated series; Hera, Sabine. Thank you. I got the Sequel Trilogy and Rey. I love Rey. What the hell happened with Captain Phasma? Just where is her story?! Jyn Erso. Vice-Admiral Holdo. Reva in Obi-Wan Kenobi comes close. Morgan Elsbeth is almost there.
But I want to say, all of these wonderful women characters and their development are still defined by the men in their lives during their stories. In The Acolyte, I finally see live-action female characters, getting to make the choices that the men get to make, [and] getting to have romance. I see myself finally as the main character. Her agency. This series has struck a chord with me. And it deserves more. Please give us more of these characters. More of this story. A dark side story. We know that very likely it's a tragedy, but it's one of her own making and we want to see it play out. — Jennifer
I know this show has been important to many people. Because they have been seen and represented and that is something special and beautiful. For me “only” has been fun. And that “only” is really cool because brings joy and awesomeness every week.
We have seen things we never expected [from] the EU, spectacular choreographies, beautiful characters, the charming of the dark side, even a possible romance and I want more of everything! I would like to see how Leslye develops her story and I would love her to take risks. I love Star Wars, and there are still a lot of things to tell, and I will be there to support and enjoy. — Esther
At first, I was skeptical about The Acolyte, due to being disappointed by recent Star Wars live-action projects, but, by surprise, I quickly fell in love. It made me feel as if I was a kid again, sitting on my couch one Christmas morning, watching Star Wars for the first time.
It has been a long time since I’ve felt it was worthwhile to participate in the Star Wars community. Between toxic fans and already-established fan groups, I felt alone. The Acolyte has opened up new spaces to discuss Star Wars with like-minded people and the community is incredibly welcoming and kind. The Acolyte has also allowed me to share Star Wars with friends who had never been interested in it before. I’m grateful to this show for giving me the opportunity to share that experience with them.
The Acolyte felt like a breath of fresh air. I’m once again hopeful about the future of Star Wars and my passion for the franchise has been reignited. I am left craving more and can only hope that the wishes of fans are fulfilled. Please, renew The Acolyte. — Liv
The Acolyte is fresh and exciting—and for once, in a long time, I feel seen and valued as an audience member; I feel genuinely excited about Star Wars again. The story that Leslye and her team have built has the potential to become a cornerstone of Star Wars storytelling—and I hope they are able to tell it, in full, as they intended. — Jessica
I’ve been a fan of Star Wars for nearly 30 years. It’s saved me, educated me, and filled me with joy and sorrow. But recently, it has been hard to see myself in a story I’ve loved so much. Then along comes Leslye Headland and The Acolyte. Every theme she tackles, the cast, the story; all of it, it resonated in a deep place with me that felt neglected for 9 years. She understands that there are those of us who’ve been waiting to really be seen by this world. And she delivered a hundredfold. As a Black, Queer Woman I need The Acolyte. Star Wars needs The Acolyte. It’s the future of Star Wars storytelling. Renew The Acolyte. — Kim
I have always loved the concept of darkness, evil, and the Sith in Star Wars. I have longed for a series or a movie that lets its protagonists explore the darkness within themselves. With The Acolyte I was finally able to get that.
Another thing I absolutely love is unlikely romances. Again, with The Acolyte it was something that was finally being explored again in Star Wars. This time by people who weren't afraid to call it a romance and even acknowledge what came before them (Reylo). I wanted for so long to have Ben and Rey's story further explored. I still do, but I'm also excited for what this show can bring for us romance lovers (specifically those who love EtL).
As a huge fan of The Last Jedi and Reylo this show felt like a personal love letter to all of us who were called stupid for enjoying those parts of Star Wars. — Bruco
The Acolyte is Star Wars's first live-action venture outside the Skywalker Saga but [it is] also so much more. For the first time in the franchise's history, [at] the very center of the storyline sits a group of characters who are, by all means, representative of real-life marginalized communities. For the first time, Star Wars is led by a cast of largely actors of color, female actors, and queer actors. This is not just a step, but a leap forward, compared to what came before, and a sparkle of hope for marginalized fans, who are used to being sidelined and ignored in their beloved franchise.
As a queer fan Star Wars has largely ignored people like me in their mainstream property, but projects like Andor and now The Acolyte have rejuvenated my love for the franchise as for the first time I feel seen and represented in the galaxy that I fell in love years ago. It's very unfortunate to see that both shows suffered attacks from toxic and bigoted individuals and groups, but they've brought real, priceless progress to Star Wars and in turn, have shown fans all over the world that they are seen.
The Acolyte is one of my favorite Star Wars projects and as such I've already assembled a large collection of figures and merchandising for my new favorite characters. All of this is to say, marginalized fans deserve to be seen and spotlighted in Star Wars, and in turn, they will support the projects that have empowered them. #RenewTheAcolyte — Iron
The Acolyte has been a breath of fresh air in the Star Wars universe. The story's setting in the High Republic, as well as the approach to a "new" way someone might "fall" to the Dark Side, is incredibly refreshing. It's great seeing both a loving sister relationship as well as a very interesting potential romantic paring. There is so much more story left to tell after season one between the characters and the wider political and force plots! — Megan
Hello, my name is Courtney and I am 38 yrs old and writing to you about The Acolyte. This has been such a refreshing show. I have been a lifelong fan of Star Wars ever since I saw the movies re-released in 1997 at 11 yrs old. While I enjoyed watching the Skywalker/Solo and Rebellion stories play out, I was ready for a totally different story to be told. Then The Acolyte was released, and it was exactly what I was looking for.
Not only did it star a Black female character, which I can relate to being Black and female, but it has such a diverse cast and a story that was totally unpredictable. Usually, I can predict how a story/show is going to go, but this show kept me guessing. Also, it wasn't afraid to take risks, killing off important characters and doing something that hasn't been done before: have an ending where the Dark Side essentially "wins.”.
I also love the fact that there are main characters of Asian descent, and one of them is the love interest! Amandla Stenberg and Manny Jacinto are such wonderful actors and have incredible chemistry. They really were the icing on top of the cake for this show. I would really love to see how Osha and Qimir/The Stranger's story plays out.
It's so intriguing to see Jedi who are not technically Sith, but are not Jedi either. Osha and Qimir fall into more of a grey area, like Jolee Bindo from Knights of the Old Republic game. I would love to see them break from Sith tradition of the Rule of Two. and follow their own path. I would hate for their story to end in tragedy after all they've been through.
All that being said, so many people love this show, me included. I would hate to not get a second season because there are still so many unanswered questions and stories to be told. I feel this show is ushering in a new Era for Star Wars, and bringing in so many new fans who weren't even familiar with Star Wars in the first place. Please consider giving this show a second season. Thank you for your time. — Courtney
The Acolyte ticks several of my what I love in Star Wars boxes: there is The High Republic, there are several strong female characters I can relate to, there are meta-mythical themes and Star Wars lore, there is a showrunner that gets it and is not afraid to discuss and explain her ideas to the audience. There was a strong marketing campaign and support from the leadership team, and there was even romance.
I want to see more of The Acolyte. I want to find out what happened between Vernestra and The Stranger. I want to know what happens to Mae and Osha and what Plagueis is doing and planning. I want to know what Yoda's reaction will be. So please, allow Leslye Headland to finish telling her story, maybe with more and longer episodes. — Margherita
Being a Filipino, it's very very rare to see any representation in mainstream media such as Star Wars, and for The Acolyte to have Manny Jacinto, a proud Filipino, showing his superb acting skills on screen made me realize just truly how it warms one's heart to see someone that represents your identity be showcased through an international audience.
It is also the fact that he is not just a side character or a stereotypical Asian character but a character [who is] so wonderfully written. [It] just makes this series have a special place in my heart. [I] want this series to continue on to see more of Qimir's character. — Alyssa
The Acolyte has brought a fresh new perspective to the Star Wars universe and has encouraged fans from all walks of life to come together and celebrate it. As a queer woman, who has been bullied her entire life liking Star Wars, I feel so represented and empowered by a show that was run and written by a female-led team. It makes me feel as though my voice matters in the community, and I am so happy to see others share a similar sentiment in regards to the representation in this show and the creative team behind it. — Sawyer Markham
It's been nice seeing something brand-new from Star Wars that doesn't rely on the Skywalker Saga. The mystery was great, and it just grabbed me from the first trailer and episode. Each week it kept me gripped to my TV and was my most anticipated show of the year. The fact they are doing what The Last Jedi had the guts to do and making us examine our heroes in a different way. They are still heroes but don't always make the best choices. And the Saber fights are top-notch. — Eric
I really enjoyed The Acolyte. It was an exciting and bold new direction for Star Wars filled with twists that kept me on the edge of my seat and many complex characters and takes an interesting morally grey look at Star Wars. Would love to watch more and see where this story goes, — Michael Phillips
The Acolyte, through centering on women and queer voices, both inside its narrative and behind its production, brought to us perspectives both refreshing and sorely needed in a field staggered by stories told by and catering to men.
On top of that, the show also delved into the flaws and fallibility of the Jedi, a topic that rhymed with the theme of the Star Wars saga and was beautifully interwoven with the characters' struggles.
These two storytelling aims were not only achieved compellingly in the show's first season but also teased us with their rich potential, awaiting further exploration. I can only wait with bated breath for a season 2, or if possible, more to come. — Blake M.
The Acolyte has made Sar Wars exciting to me again and less to forget my interests in other characters and times. Because of this series, I am inspired to read the books about the High Republic, or any books released about characters from the Acolyte. I just want more of these fascinating, diverse characters and their stories and motivations.
As someone whose ethos is based mainly on The Love Ethic (Bell Hooks' idea of people being burdened and hurting and a community drawing them in rather than casting them out) I love to see stories where people are drawn into darkness, but have a chance to find the light again. It's important to show how love can save people and Star Wars has a large enough audience to teach people these stories and to alter the mythology of our world. — Melodee Stapleton
I have loved Star Wars for years, loved the Galaxy Far Far Away and the kind of stories you could tell when your framework is a fairytale in space. When the sequel trilogy, especially The Last Jedi, came out I felt like the characters got under my skin, like a fire was lit under me. I wanted to live and breathe Star Wars, went to see the movies way too many times, dragging my friends along with me. [I] devoured fan art and fan fiction like I needed it to breathe.
After The Rise of Skywalker, I experienced the exact opposite. My favourite parts of Star Wars—the fairytale, the mythology, the characters—were broken. I only went to see it once despite making plans to go and see it multiple times beforehand. I drifted away from anything Star Wars to the point of avoiding seeing related posts on social media.
Now with The Acolyte, I feel the love returning. I feel the fire again. I rewatch the show over and over again; and rewatch my favourite scenes. I jumped back into the fandom, even wrote AND SHARED fanfiction for the first time in years after mostly keeping it buried on my drive. And to think I wasn't even gonna watch it, too hesitant to trust the franchise's writers again. Thankfully, my timeline was FLOODED with Osha and Qimir, and who could say no to them? Now I'm ready to trust Lesyle and her amazing team to continue telling a compelling story if they are only given the possibility. — Monika
As a black woman, and a lifelong Star Wars fan, The Acolyte means everything that representation should. Not only is the story compelling and intriguing, but it’s finally proof that people who look like me CAN be interested in this universe, because it is not designed to keep us out.
I recall watching episodes of [Star Wars: The Clone Wars] and seeing [that] ALL the Mandalorians were fair-skinned with blue eyes & blond hair. It wasn’t until future episodes that I realize the whole planet was identical in that way, and that even Bo Katan seemed out of place [because] her hair was brown. As a child, I recognized early on that this was an intentional decision, and I was sad to realize that the creators hadn't thought to make any warriors who looked like me. Looking back now, I understand why those were my least favorite episodes; even though I felt more of a connection to the Mandalorian story because of their deep sense of loyalty to family, culture and tradition. But visually, it was a reminder that the show’s creators specifically left out people of color in these episodes, [and] a constant reminder that in THIS universe you, and people who look like you are on primitive planets. After a while, it felt alienating to hear the word Mandalorian (I almost didn’t watch the live-action series), because if you watched [The Clone Wars] you could only assume they looked one way reinforcing the idea that only specific featured individuals could be considered the greatest warriors in the galaxy.
Now that we have The Acolyte, it feels like another story could be told of an advanced society of warriors who adhere to a cultural identity, familial ties, and a tradition that connects them to their past, present, and future. Something that myself and my daughter can finally connect to when we see strong leading female characters like Osha and Mae. This show has made me remember what it felt like to want to live in the Star Wars universe and to be able to share that without feeling like you would be out of place in a universe of trillions upon trillions. To me continuing this series would not only bring along more viewers but it would be the greatest gift this show could give US, who just wanted to be special in a galaxy far, far away. — OG Planeteer
Season 1 of The Acolyte has not only laid a well-rounded foundation within its storyline but with its characters (The Stranger (Qimir), Osha, and Vernestra for example), and with a renewal for future seasons I believe that there is potential for these characters to be fleshed out more and [that there is much more] to explore in their philosophies, mindsets, and the relationships formed between them. We have now seen Osha's character and views change and it would be a shame not to see how she now settles with her uncovered emotions and how it comes to shape the bonds she forms. It's fascinating and sort of visceral to peer into a character's inner world, and I find that Amandla Stenberg expresses that beautifully.
With Qimir, there's just still so many enigmas about him, such as his backstory, personality, and future goals to be elaborated on and if I'm being honest, it has felt incredibly epic to witness such a mercurial and fearful character come to life in the first season and I can truthfully say that it would not do his arc justice if his character was merely confined and left behind in Season 1.
The Acolyte has provided Star Wars with a refreshing storyline as it strays away from the Skywalker Saga and to now have fresh characters with little to no association with that era is honestly so fun to explore and form bonds with. The novelty of this series reminds me of just how much I adore and cherish Star Wars for its story, emotions and the comfort that comes with it. I am ecstatically looking forward to the future of The Acolyte and I will continuously be manifesting for more seasons! — Lucerna
The Acolyte is a refreshing, yet morally twisted, view of the Star Wars Universe. With the main protagonist falling to the Dark Side instead of the other way around, it challenges this idea that the Jedi are this peaceful, morally correct, and all-knowing side. It does that while including this romantic story that is at the forefront of this story and not shied away from. Leslye does this in a way while also giving the characters their own storyline and arc. — Mackenzie
[I] loved seeing the Jedi in a negative light, with Great actors, and so many compelling storylines that I want to learn [more] about. — Nikhil Swaminathan
The Acolyte was an amazing and life-changing watch for me. As a lifelong Star Wars fan, I thought that the show provided a new perspective into how we view Jedi and their place in the galaxy. Through the incredible acting of Manny Jacinto and Amandla Stenberg (along with the rest of the cast), I was able to understand the Sith and those against the Jedi in a way I never have before. I think a second season of this show is absolutely crucial to showcasing the history of the galaxy and introducing fans to concepts, characters, and events that have never before been seen on the screen.
The hate campaign that has been pushed against this show is very clearly lead by bigotry and not genuine criticism. Most negative reviews cite "woke ideology" and "forced diversity" as the reasons for why no one should watch the show. It is a shame that even BEFORE episodes were released, they were given one star ratings due to complete unwillingness to see new perspectives in the story of Star Wars.
However, I would like it to be known that there are still many people who would love to see a second season. The diversity that The Acolyte showcases is not, and never feels forced. Instead, it allows for a whole new demographic of fans who never before saw themselves in the franchise to be introduced to this world.
I do not think one very loud, organized, and bigoted hate campaign led by a few youtubers should be able to decide the fate of a show that is loved by so many, and I strongly hope that Disney and Lucasfilm can see this love and renew The Acolyte for a second season. — Andre Gonzalez
We need season 2 because ENEMIES-TO-LOVERS, need I say more? I think it's so important to include a romance plot in such a big franchise; I mean we've had before, but this, this is through the female gaze. You can see it in the small touches Qimir gives Osha, the yearning!
I'd love to see their relationship develop in a second season. — Maria Paredes
I spent my childhood with Star Wars. Even back then, I knew there weren’t too many people that looked like me in this universe, but I still loved it. [I] loved Luke and Leia, R2-D2, and the Jedi with their lightsabers, but even more, even as a little girl, I LOVED Darth Vader. To a point, I’m pretty sure I worried my father. Here was this incredibly powerful man who was once good, but had struggled so much with his emotions, he’d ended up falling to darkness and became this terrifying villain. Who still, in the end, had that good man buried inside him. How could I not be intrigued by that? I felt like I understood him.
When we got the prequel movies years later, I was ECSTATIC! We were introduced to Ani, and Padmé, and Obi-Wan. Those movies quickly rose to become my favorite Star Wars movies ever. The more we were shown of Ani, the more I related to his story, the more I understood him. Being someone who felt so deeply about everything, that struggle with balance, it was so familiar. To this day, Anakin Skywalker remains one of my all time favorite characters. However, it also reminded me, that there still weren’t too many people who looked like me in this universe, least of all women, and none of them dark side. Padmé was my girl, but it wasn’t the same, she was a fighter, but she wasn’t a force user, and she was light through and through.
I wanted to see a female character go through that same struggle Anakin did. I wanted to see a woman go dark side and get the same praise Vader did. I wanted a female force user to choose the dark, and be allowed to. At the time I didn’t even bother to hope it would be someone that looked like me. I could only hope to see a woman permitted to have that journey of emotional strife and release. I never imagined it would come in the shape of The Acolyte, but it was everything I’ve ever hoped for from the Star Wars universe and more. I relate to Osha even more than I related to Anakin, and I can’t thank Amandla and Leslye enough for giving her to me. To take away this series now would rob a lot of people of the representation they’ve been waiting for in the Star Wars universe. — Blue
I strongly believe that The Acolyte should be renewed for more seasons because it has brought a fresh and intriguing perspective to the Star Wars universe. The series delves into the dark side of the Force in a way that hasn’t been explored before, offering a unique narrative that captivates both long-time fans and newcomers. The complex characters and their evolving storylines have kept me on the edge of my seat, and I am eager to see how their journeys unfold in future seasons.
The Acolyte has meant a lot to me personally. It has reignited my passion for the Star Wars franchise by introducing new elements and deepening the lore. The show’s ability to blend mystery, action, and drama has made it a standout in the current lineup of Star Wars content. Watching the series has been a thrilling experience, and it has provided me with countless moments of excitement and reflection.
In addition, the performances of the cast, particularly Amandla Stenberg and Manny Jacinto, have been exceptional. Their chemistry and portrayal of their characters have added depth and authenticity to the story. Renewing The Acolyte would not only allow us to continue enjoying these performances but also give the creators the opportunity to expand on the rich and intricate world they have built. — Jackline Nely
There were many aspects of [The Acolyte] that I adored when watching. From the spectacular action set-pieces, to the fascinating mystery unfolding, and the lovely character work by the writers and actors.
All of this was amplified for me beyond belief in seeing others gushing about the show online, highlighting those same aspects that I saw and even ones that I missed or failed to perceive. I have never felt a greater love for Star Wars in my adult life than watching and sharing in that passion coming from The Acolyte.
I'm getting teary-eyed writing this, the show has had value beyond what I even understand and I am begging for another season, another chance to feel this good about loving Star Wars. — GentlemanPenguin
I want a second season [of The Acolyte] to hopefully see Osha free herself from the Dark Side. I want to see Mae not only regain her memory but also see her time with the Jedi will show her that there are Jedi who are decent unlike Sol. And most certainly I want to see the Stranger pay for what he’s done and for all the Jedi he’s killed. And definitely see Yoda in action, cause the Stranger certainly wouldn’t stand a chance against him. — Anonymous
Qimir is the most compelling romantic lead we've ever had in Star Wars, and his story hasn't even been told yet. A second season would be a great opportunity to do a deep dive into Sith lore in live action. I've been an EU fan for most of my life, and I appreciate that Leslye has made something for us. The Acolyte has also introduced so many women into the fandom, and that has been wonderful to see. I'll be devastated if we don't get to see this story to its conclusion. — Kate
