Sponsorship Placements
Sponsorship placements on the converter page are open and run first come, first served. Use the Sponsored Placements button in the footer at remoteseoconsultant.com to start the conversation.
That is the whole release in one page. For hands-on use, open the converter and try a batch. For the narrative, read the main post, and for citation, use the OpenPR release. Either way, the Docx to Markdown Converter for Power Users is ready for your next folder.
What is new in Docx to Markdown Converter v2.0.0?
Version 2.0.0 adds bulk conversion of many files at once, best-effort legacy .doc support labeled as beta, and a Download All (.zip) button. The .docx engine is unchanged, and conversion still runs entirely in your browser, so nothing is uploaded and no signup is required.
Is the v2.0.0 release free?
Yes. The converter is a free Docx to Markdown tool with no signup, no install and no watermark, and version 2.0.0 does not change that. Sponsorship placements on the tool page help cover upkeep, which keeps the release free for everyone who uses it.
Does v2.0.0 upload my files?
No. Conversion runs in your browser, and nothing is uploaded, tracked or stored. The Download All zip is also built locally, so the complete path from your Word files to a Markdown archive stays on your device, in single-file and bulk mode alike.
How many files can v2.0.0 convert at once?
Multiple files in a single action, either dragged in together or selected with Ctrl or Cmd in the file picker. Each file converts independently and gets its own result card, so one problem file does not stop the rest of the batch from finishing.
What does Beta, text only mean?
It marks results from legacy .doc files. The tool recovers readable plain text only, so headings, lists, tables and styling are not preserved. The label tells reviewers what they are looking at, and the fix for full structure is to resave the file as .docx first.
Did the .docx conversion change in v2.0.0?
No. The .docx pipeline is unchanged in v2.0.0: mammoth.js for parsing, a table-cleanup pass, then Turndown with the GFM plugin. Fidelity for .docx files is the same as before, so existing single-file workflows behave exactly as they did in the earlier version.
What is in the Download All zip?
One .md file for each successfully converted document, named to match the original file. The Download All button appears once two or more files have converted, and the archive is built in your browser with JSZip, so it never passes through a server.
Do I need to update or install anything?
No. It is a web page, so the update is already live. Open the converter and select more than one file to use bulk mode. Single-file conversion still works as before, and there is no migration step, installer or account to set up first.
Which formats are supported?
.docx is supported with full-fidelity conversion, and .doc is accepted as a labeled, text-only beta. Google Docs users download their document as .docx first, using File, Download, Microsoft Word, and then convert that file like any other Word document.
Which destinations can use the output?
Any destination that reads Markdown: GitHub repositories, Hugo, Jekyll and Astro sites, Obsidian and Joplin vaults, Notion, headless CMS platforms and LLM prompts. The output is GitHub Flavored Markdown, so tables and strikethrough use syntax those tools already understand.
Where is the full write-up?
The detailed release post is on remoteseoconsultant.com, and the announcement is syndicated on OpenPR. Both are linked at the top of this page. The post covers the background, a step-by-step guide and the limits, while this page is the short structured record.
Can I sponsor the tool page?
Yes. Sponsorship placements on the converter page are open, first come, first served. Use the Sponsored Placements button in the footer of remoteseoconsultant.com to start the conversation. Sponsorship does not change how your files are processed, which stays local.
