I just traded in a 2005 maxima for a 2012 with the premium package and I'm loving it. The only problem is the remote start doesn't seem to work? Three taps on the lock button on the key fob and it's supposed to fire, but I get crickets.

I thought I would share this info with the group. I had the Nissan Dealer install a remote engine starter. The model I selected was the idatastart HC3452A. This is a Nissan approved company and it's who the dealers order from and stocks parts.

It turns out as well that when the Nissan Dealer installs the remote starter it gets covered under their 3 yr/ 60,000 km warranty. It took the dealer about 3 hours to install - it was their first NV3500 that they have wired. It turns out it did not work once installed. Since it was quitting time for the mechanics I left my vehicle in the bay overnight. The dealer made a call to idatastart in the morning and they corrected the problem immediately.

Lgpalmer, every brand of remote starter I looked at (Compustar, Viper, & Fortin) has those features as optional upgrades. You can also get a keypad that goes in the corner of the windshield so you can unlock the van even if you don't have your phone with you.

Lgpalmer - the idatastar remote that my dealer installed does not have the features you are describing. It has the basics and a few extended features but they are all based/programmed with the included remote and does not connect with other external devices. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

This system allows you to open the doors of your car and start the engine by merely pressing keypads on the remote control. Contrary to having an actual key to open your car doors and spark the ignition, this advanced technology makes it much simpler for drivers everywhere to commence their trip.

With Nissan keyless entry and remote start, you can put these behind you. With it, your drive is made so much more relaxed and seamless. With just the press of a button, all doors of your car are opened, and your vehicle is ready to move. What's even better is that you can do this even from a distance. You don't have to be physically next to your car, as long as you are in proximity and possess your remote control keypad.

Below, we list out the functions of the Nissan keyless entry and remote start: Remote lock and unlock of car doors and trunk With just one press, you can open your car doors, including the trunk. There's no need to insert an actual key into your vehicle.

This technology can sense if your remote control keypad/key is inside your car. This means that if you've forgotten about and shut in your remote control keypad/key inadvertently within your Nissan, you will be alerted via a buzzer, and all doors are automatically unlocked momentarily.

Every new Nissan vehicle with remote start equipped can have its remote start duration extended once for 10 extra minutes before turning itself off. The extension is performed by repeating steps 2 and 3 listed above. The extra 10 minutes starts as soon as you perform the extension. For instance, if you perform the extension 8 minutes into the original remote start, it will run for another 10 minutes from that point, for a total runtime of 18 minutes. After an extension is used, the ignition switch inside your Nissan needs to be turned on and off before remote start will work again. And since you have to use the ignition to start driving, this happens automatically.

Intelligent Climate Control will intelligently adjust the interior temperature of your vehicle once you remote start it. If the outside is hot (as is often the case here in El Paso), the Intelligent Climate Control will cool your interior to a comfortable level. If the outside is cold, the Intelligent Climate Control system will be smart enough to realize you probably want things toastier, and will warm up the insides.

The remote start feature offers some incredible benefits. While the heater will start and warm your car before you get in, your engine will also warm up. Note that this feature can be used during summer as well to kick up your AC quickly.
