We will begin the day with a moderated panel discussion. Our three speakers will share how their institutions have been adapting to a remote work environment. A Q&A with the speakers will follow the panel discussion.
Sara Arnold-Garza is the Assistant University Librarian for Access Services at Towson University’s Cook Library. In addition to providing leadership to the circulation, reserves, and interlibrary loan functions, she also coordinates the library’s residency program and is liaison to Political Science and International Studies. Sara earned a Master of Science in Information Studies at the University of Texas at Austin, and began her academic library career as a Residency Librarian. She is interested in diversity, equity, and inclusion in the field of librarianship, student engagement, and patron-centered public services.
Rachel Gammons is an academic librarian interested in (M)LIS education, information literacy, student-centered librarianship, critical library practice, mentorship, and feminist management and supervision practices. As Head of Teaching & Learning Services at the University of Maryland (UMD) Libraries at College Park, she oversees a team of teaching librarians and graduate students. Together, they manage a 5k person instruction program, provide teaching support for Libraries staff, and create outreach and learning opportunities for UMD undergraduate students. Rachel is the co-founder and co-director of UMD Libraries' Research and Teaching Fellowship; a three-semester teacher training program for MLIS students. She has a BA and MSIS from the University of Tennessee (go Vols!), an MA from West Chester University, and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Higher Education, Student Affairs, and International Education at UMD. Cindy Steinhoff has served as the Director of the Library at Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold, Maryland, since 2000, after working in both systems and collection development since joining the AACC library faculty in 1983. She currently serves as the treasurer of the Congress of Academic Library Directors of Maryland (CALD) and is also active in the Association of College and Research Libraries. In her free time Cindy enjoys hanging out with the family dog, a Cheasapeake Bay retriever named Annie, and researching and writing about antique needlework.
