Remo: LG TV Remote (“Remo,” “the App,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is an independent remote-control application developed by Frontiers Studio
This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use Remo.
Remo is an independent application and is not affiliated with, authorized by, sponsored by, or endorsed by LG Electronics Inc. LG and webOS are trademarks of their respective owners.
To discover and control compatible televisions on your local network, Remo may process:
Television IP address
Television name and model
Television identifier
Pairing and connection status
Locally generated pairing credentials or client keys
Installed television applications and available inputs
Media and playback status, when provided by the television
Local Wi-Fi and network-connection status
This information is primarily processed locally on your device to establish and maintain communication with your television.
Remo does not intentionally collect or transmit your television’s local IP address to our analytics or advertising systems.
Remo may store the following locally:
Previously paired televisions
Pairing credentials or client keys
Custom television names
Selected theme and personalization settings
Quick-launch application choices
Consent preferences
Connection and application preferences
You can remove saved television information using the Forget television option. You can also remove locally stored App data through Android system settings or by uninstalling Remo.
If you choose to use voice input, Remo may request microphone permission and process your speech to convert it into text or a command.
Depending on your Android device and selected speech-recognition provider, audio or speech data may be processed by Google or another speech-service provider under that provider’s privacy policy. Remo does not continuously record audio and only activates microphone access after a voice feature is initiated by you.
You may deny or revoke microphone permission through Android settings. Standard remote-control functions will remain available, although voice features may not work.
The Air Mouse feature may use your device’s gyroscope, accelerometer, or other motion sensors. Motion data is used to translate device movement into pointer movement.
Sensor information is processed for this feature and is not intentionally stored or transmitted to our servers.
If analytics and crash reporting are enabled, Remo may collect limited technical information such as:
App version
Android version
Device type and general device characteristics
Television model family or webOS generation
Feature usage
Discovery and connection duration
Pairing, connection and reconnection outcomes
Error categories
Crash reports and performance information
Approximate country or region derived by a service provider
We use this information to understand reliability, diagnose problems and improve Remo. We do not intend to collect remote-control button contents, keyboard text, voice transcripts, local television IP addresses or pairing credentials through analytics.
Remo uses Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics when the user enables anonymous diagnostics. These services process limited app interaction, device, diagnostic and crash information for analytics, reliability monitoring and troubleshooting. Collection can be disabled at any time under Settings → Privacy & data.
The Google Mobile Ads SDK may automatically collect or share IP address, app interactions, diagnostic information, advertising ID, app set ID and other device identifiers for advertising, analytics and fraud-prevention purposes. Data transmitted by the Google Mobile Ads SDK is encrypted in transit.
Advertising providers may process information such as:
Advertising identifiers
Device and app information
General or approximate location
IP address used for internet communication
Advertisement interactions
Consent choices
Diagnostic and fraud-prevention information
Depending on your location and consent choices, advertisements may be personalized, non-personalized, limited, or used only for technical ad delivery.
Google’s handling of information is explained in:
Frontiers Studio does not sell personal information. Information may be shared with Google and its advertising partners as described in this policy for advertising, measurement, consent management and fraud prevention.
Where required, including for users in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland, Remo uses Google’s User Messaging Platform to request applicable advertising consent choices. Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics are controlled separately through the anonymous diagnostics choice in onboarding and Settings → Privacy & data.
Where available, you can review or change your choices using Settings → Privacy choices in Remo.
You may also:
Reset or delete your Android advertising ID through Android settings.
Disable personalized advertising through your device or Google account settings.
Revoke microphone and other App permissions through Android settings.
Clear Remo’s local data or uninstall the App.
Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that occurred lawfully before the withdrawal.
Depending on the features you use, Remo may access the following device capabilities or request the following permissions:
Internet and network access: To discover and communicate with televisions and load online services or advertisements.
Local-network/Wi-Fi information: To determine network availability and find compatible televisions.
Nearby Wi-Fi devices: Used on supported Android versions to discover televisions on the local network. Remo declares that this access is not used to derive physical location.
Microphone: For user-initiated voice input.
Motion sensors: For Air Mouse functionality.
Vibration: To provide feedback when remote buttons are pressed.
Remo requests permissions only when required by a feature or Android platform requirement.
Information may be used to:
Discover, pair with and control compatible televisions
Remember paired televisions and user preferences
Provide voice, keyboard, touchpad and Air Mouse functionality
Diagnose connection and compatibility problems
Measure performance and improve the App
Prevent abuse, fraud and security incidents
Display and measure advertisements
Comply with legal obligations
Information may be processed by service providers that help us operate Remo, including:
Google AdMob and advertising partners
Google User Messaging Platform
Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics, when anonymous diagnostics are enabled
Android speech-recognition providers selected by the user or device
These providers process information according to their own policies and applicable agreements.
We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect users, investigate fraud or security incidents, or establish and defend legal rights.
Locally stored television and preference information remains on your device until you forget a television, clear the App’s data or uninstall Remo.
Advertising, analytics and crash-reporting providers may retain information according to their own retention policies. We retain information under our control only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy or as required by law.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect information handled by Remo. However, no electronic storage, wireless network or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
You should use Remo only on a trusted local network and keep your television, Android device and applications updated.
Communication with a television occurs over the local network. Depending on the television model and supported webOS protocol, local-network communication may not always use transport encryption.
Remo is intended as a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13 or the minimum applicable age in their jurisdiction.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through Remo, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
Advertising, analytics, speech-recognition and technical-service providers may process information in countries other than your country of residence. Where applicable, such processing is subject to appropriate legal safeguards maintained by those providers.
Depending on your location, you may have rights concerning personal information, including rights to:
Request access
Request correction or deletion
Restrict or object to certain processing
Withdraw consent
Request data portability
Submit a complaint to an applicable data-protection authority
Because most television and preference information is stored locally, it can normally be removed directly by forgetting the television, clearing Remo’s App data or uninstalling the App.
To submit a privacy request concerning information under our control, contact us at the address below. We may need to verify the request before responding.
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to Remo, its service providers, legal requirements or data practices.
The latest version will be published on this page with an updated effective date. Material changes may also be communicated within the App where appropriate.
