• Who picks which: The Reloop is for the serious club DJ needing dedicated cueing, while the Hercules fits the mobile performer or home enthusiast who values portability and all-day wear.
The Reloop RHP 10 Mono is built with a singular purpose: professional one-ear monitoring in demanding live settings. This isn't a headphone designed to wrap around your head like a pair of headphones; it is a tool designed to clip onto one ear so you can hear your cue track without losing awareness of the room. In a world where many DJ headphones settle for smaller drivers, this unit pushes enough volume and clarity to cut through the roar of a packed club or a loud rehearsal space. The sensitivity rating of 109 dB ensures that even at lower amplifier levels, the sound remains punchy and immediate.
The construction speaks directly to durability and longevity. The handle is ergonomically padded, which is critical when you are holding the headphone against your ear for hours during a set. The ear cup itself pivots, allowing you to angle the sound exactly where you need it. The material choice is also significant; the water-resistant faux leather ear pads are predestined for "long-lasting live use," meaning they can withstand the humidity of a dance floor or the sweat of a hot summer gig better than standard foam or fabric alternatives. The inclusion of a sturdy XLR connection is a major differentiator.
This product is ideal for the traditionalist DJ who relies on mono cueing as a primary workflow. If you are someone who needs to hear the next track clearly over a booming bassline while keeping one ear free for the crowd, this is the device. However, it is not for everyone. You cannot fold it flat for travel in the same way as a dual-cup headphone; it is a fixed form factor. If you prioritize portability above all else, or if you prefer to listen to music in stereo for enjoyment rather than just technical monitoring, this specific model might feel too specialized for your needs. It is a heavy-duty workhorse, not a lightweight accessory.

The Hercules HDP DJ60 takes a different approach by offering a full circumaural design that fits comfortably over both ears. This model is engineered for versatility, balancing high-performance audio with features that make it easy to carry and use in various scenarios. This wide spectrum means you get deep, solid bass rendering alongside crisp highs, making it suitable not just for mixing but for enjoying music with fidelity. The sensitivity sits at 105 dB, which is excellent for being clearly audible in any environment, ensuring you don't have to crank the volume to dangerous levels to hear your cues.
Comfort is a major selling point for the HDP DJ60. The earcups feature very soft padding on the underside of the headband and around the ears, which allows for extended wear without fatigue. For an elderly user or anyone with sensitive ears, this cushioning makes a significant difference compared to harder plastic or less plush alternatives. The headphones are also highly adaptable physically; they feature pivoting earcups that rotate on a dual axis. This allows you to easily switch between wearing them fully over both ears for mixing or rotating one cup away for quick, one-ear monitoring. The ability to fold the headphones completely is another huge plus for transport. They pack down into a small footprint, fitting easily into a bag or case without taking up much space.
The connectivity options here are broad and user-friendly. The included spiral cable stretches from 1 meter up to 3 meters (9.8 feet), giving you immense freedom of movement behind the mixer without worrying about tangling. This means the headphones work seamlessly with modern controllers, laptops, and older DJ decks alike. The wire-on-one-side design further frees up the DJ during live performances, preventing the cable from getting caught or tangled around the neck. While the 32-ohm impedance is slightly higher than the Reloop, it still pairs well with standard DJ equipment. This product is perfect for the mobile DJ, the home studio enthusiast, or the beginner looking for a reliable pair of headphones that can do it all. It sacrifices the rugged XLR lock of the Reloop for the sake of convenience, flexibility, and a more comfortable, all-around listening experience.
• Best for long-duration comfort → Hercules HDP DJ60 (Softer padding and lighter overall build suit extended wear).
• Best for professional rig stability → Reloop RHP 10 (XLR connection locks securely, unlike standard jacks).
• Best for travel and storage → Hercules HDP DJ60 (Foldable design saves space; Reloop is rigid).
• Best for cable reach → Hercules HDP DJ60 (Spiral cable extends to 3 meters; Reloop includes a standard coiled cable).
• Best for versatility in playback → Hercules HDP DJ60 (Stereo sound and dual-axis pivoting allow multiple use cases).
• Best for sweat resistance → Reloop RHP 10 (Water-resistant faux leather pads are explicitly designed for live moisture).
In my opinion, the Hercules HDP DJ60 is the smarter buy for the vast majority of users, including those looking for best earphones for elderly individuals who value comfort and ease of use. The combination of soft padding, foldability, and the included adapter kit makes it accessible and practical for daily life. While the Reloop RHP 10 is a fantastic piece of engineering for the niche professional who strictly needs mono cueing and an XLR lock, the Hercules offers a broader utility. I would choose the Hercules because its ability to pivot, fold, and stretch its cable provides a level of freedom that fits both professional sets and casual listening sessions. It is simply the more adaptable tool for a modern listener who wants quality sound without sacrificing physical comfort.
Yes, both models offer high sensitivity (109dB for Reloop, 105dB for Hercules) to ensure clear audio, but the Hercules HDP DJ60 is often preferred for clip on earbuds for elderly users due to its softer padding and adjustable headband, which accommodates different head sizes comfortably.
The Reloop RHP 10 uses an XLR connection, so you will need a specific XLR-to-1/4" cable adapter if your mixer does not support XLR inputs directly.
The Reloop RHP 10 is specifically noted for its water-resistant faux leather ear pads and sturdy construction designed for long-lasting live use, making it potentially more resistant to moisture than the standard materials on the Hercules.
