We ask students to dress formally, as this is an important occasion. We prefer white dresses for girls, and boys to have white shirts. If they have jackets, usually we hold these in the sacristy during the ceremony for consistency. Gloves and veils are not worn in the ceremony.
The program provides a white tie for boys.
Students must be able to understand that they are receiving the body of Christ. We expect students to be familiar with the basics of Catholic teaching..
All students should be able to recite standard prayers especially the Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be.
Ceremony itself is usually held at the main English mass at 9 am. We do not allow videographers but pictures may be taken at designated times.
Each family has a designated reserved seating area.
In the year the ceremony takes place families pay a sacramental fee ($25) to cover additional costs. Donations to the parish are welcome but not required.
